sorry la~ no can do.

odd though isn't it? i mean my old 8310 could.. yet this brand spanking new technology can't. hmph.

chinese 3650s however can read chinese AND english.. but have no T9.. only stroke and pinyin.

I tried copying the chinese fonts files from 3650 chinese version into my 3650 english version. I manage to see chinese name when u open up the contact. The problem is that I still cannot see chinese sms :(

i copy the following files from

z:\systems\fonts\11x12_latin.gdr
z:\systems\fonts\15x16_latin.gdr

to c:\systems\fonts
after that restart and manage to see contacts in chinese character.

could u please upload or email them to me? seremify007@yahoo.com.au

but can u input chinese? otherwise may i ask how u inputted the chinese? or are u on a chinese phone? i don't quite understand how copying font files over enables chinese on contacts and not messages.. *shrugs* i'll try anyway if u r willing to upload files.

I doubt it'll be put into a new firmware since its quite complex the way its used.. but who knows whats possible nowadays?

Chinese input is done via stroke order or pinyin. Pinyin is similar to computer pinyin except imagine it has T9 on as well! Stroke order has got the 5 stroke directions.. Its very complex to write but its hard in the sense it must be correct.

in the end could the 7650 english version be able to type chinese thru firmware upgrades?
if it could, i believe 3650 will be able to too in the future

it could (in theory) but i doubt it since it requires a change of keypad and a new manual to read if u want to type in chinese.

Do at own risk.

Please bear in mind once you have copy it into your c:\ drive, you will not be able to remove it becauce it is a system file. This also mean that your c: drive will be 500kb less. I try reformatting the phone using *#7370# but the font files still in my c: drive. Bear in mind that the only place where u are able to see chinese is when u OPEN the contact details.

My chinese contacts are created using other phones with chinese input. (Store in my sim card). I have consider having my phone upgrade to chinese firmware but that would mean losing english T9 and bluetooth audio support.

hope it works~ so u just copy it into fonts eh? is it deletable? and does anything new happen with chinese font files?..

i'm just concerned 'coz the filename is "latin"..

jeff.

nope, you cannot delete them once install into your c: drive.
because it is a system read-only file.

I have manage to install a software call q9tech which allows you to read and write chinese sms on my english version 3650. It works great. Even the english t9 is much faster than the standard nokia. It has auto complete for the english t9.

Check out www.q9tech.com

you have to copy the fonts file to e:\system\fonts and then reboot

the fonts file available in earlier post but you have to register to be able to download the files

thanks for the update. I tried it when 3650 was launched and there wasn't a English version. Now there is, perhaps it will work.

BTW, r u still using the trial version? Any idea how to purchase it?

I tried the trial the "English Version" of Q9 Chinese Input NOKIA 3650 Version, it works. I can view and input chinese char.

go to:
http://www.q9tech.com/eng/services/download/3650_1.php3
select "English Version"

I would like to purchase the sw, but the website isn't friendly enough for oveseas purchaser :(

agree...purchasing via the website dun seems possible. The other way is to purchase via softwaremarket.nokia.com, but they are only selling the simplified chinese version, not sure if the keycode can be used on the english version.

BTW, did you install it on the main memory or the MMC? I noticed that it takes up a quite a lot of memory when in use. With that, you will not be able to launch some apps at all. (Eg. Opera)

what chinese fonts did you use? installed Q9 software too but it asked me to install the chinese fonts. did you use the ones posted on the previous page? thanks
