What third party software can you just not live without on your Nok 92xx?

How about a top 3 list - mine would have to be:

1 - Task Manager
2 - Active Mail
3 = Mercury IM
3 = SmartProfiles

Sorry, just couldn't choose between those last two...

Since I don't actually own the 9210 I can't really answer this. My top 3 is therefore in terms of programs I've been impressed by.

1. Active Desk
2. Task Manager
3. C64 Emulator

Only three?

Task Manager
Smart Profiles
eExtras

Also, I can't manage without;

Zip Manager
iDisk Pro
eMessaging
Power Data

Mine would be:

:P 1: task manager (this is the most important since i have lotsa crap installed...)
:P 2: colors (oh man... i cant live to see my 9210 back to standards..)
:P 3: Extended Extras (without this my 9210 will be in messy shit...)

I only use free programs ;) They do the same ;)

My most used:

Switcher (to close active tasks and to check memory)
Idisk (to find my memory usage)

That's actually it ;)
Other software installed and sometimes used:

irc client (irc9 or something)
Doom

My other software is from nokia.

1. emessaging -- the ability to send op logos and flash msg is cool!

2. erecorder -- something we missed from the ol' 9110

3. switcher -- memory management

:D

Wow everybody seems to use taskmanager :) I know from the trial that it was cool, but I had to settle with the free version switcher :)

1- Task Manager - the top must have app.

2- eMessaging - can't live with out picture messages

3- Smart Profiles - Stupid Nokia not to put such feature in their top Techno mobile but in other modules.

3- Localization - Special Thanks goes to PSI NT for creating alot of great app. and this is one of them.

Regards, ;)

It seems like a brilliant app... Maybe thinking of throwing smartmemory and switcher overboard and replacing it with appman.

Hi Nosferatu, how about writing a small review about AppMan. I'm as well tempted to throw my TaskManager overboard and start using AppMan.
Maybe you can share your experience with us.

A little contribution to this topic...

1) Switcher.
(KISS = keep it simple & stupid) Simple to use. Does exactly the work it was created for. Does not use or take a big memory palce. And a very big plus = avoids crashes & error messages, like not enough memory... A must have !!!

2) eMessaging.
Yes, yes, yes... I agree that 9210 was mainly created for Pro applications and use, but what a joy to be able to send some pic messages, logos, flash, etc... Some fun and cool times are always apreciated in this stressfull world...

3) Colors (used with Loonyworld skins...)
Its Alive !!! Its Alive !!! Its Alive !!! What else to say than this app combined with Loony's skins and other skin providers makes our 9210 unique...

4) eExtras.
Just love it !!! As I am working in the software business, it allowed me to organize my 9210 as I wanted & desired, as my personnal diretions... Not being imposed ways or means like closed software sources, or looks (freedom is liberty, kisses to Bill Gates!!!)

Great review - I have an unregistered version on trial on my 9210i and would like to add a couple of comments....

1) I like it a lot also and am seriously considering losing Switcher, iDisk and Restart in favour of AppMan.

2) I have the same problems you describe with the recent files view and help function. It looks like your 9210 may be OK and the problem is with the program.

3) Task Manager / Switcher show the free memory (RAM) at the top of the task list - that's useful when you are closing apps to free up memory since the consumption shown against the file is a lot less tahn you free up by closing it.

4) A small point, but the applications list doesn't occupy the full depth of the screen, so more scrolling is required to see what is open.

Download patched AppMan ("Recent files" function is now available with all devices):
http://www.symbianware.com/download/appman/appman.sis

History will be accumulated after installation (even at the time when AppMan is unloaded). Just open some documents and you'll see changes in this view.

Already done :-) Next version of AppMan with this function and much more other improvements will come soon :o

Anyone think PsiNT will have a new version of TaskMan?
Mmm.... i think i'll hang on for a week or so and see what happens.
So far i have been a major fan of PsiNT.
Well lets see...
Though they seem very focused on the 7650 at the moment. (Cant blaim them new market there and less apps to fight it out with at the moment.)

I've installed the updated version and a quick check suggests that the history problem is fixed. :D

"Help" function still not working though. :(

I'm looking forward to the release of the next version and hoping the view gets expanded to make use of the full depth of the screen. :-?

Will we talk about another essential software for 92xx?

Hehe,

It all depends what you want to do with it.
Most people use a task switcher like taskmanager, appman, switcher and then it's up to you. Look in the begining of the topic.
