The 3650 can be unlocked yes.
You can't download software to do it. You need hardware.
You type an unlock code into the phone, you don't use Bluetooth.
Tatuagem 18-06-2003, 02:48 PM so we need hardware or an unlocking code is sufficient?
The hardware generates the code (it is a dongle).
You just enter the code that the hardware produces :)

Doesn't work.
The "old" phones are DCT-3, which can be unlocked using this method. DCT-4 can't yet (AFAIK).
Please note that this is a delicate subject on AAS, so we won't go into too much detail.
Tatuagem 18-06-2003, 10:52 PM I know it can be done on the 7650... haven't looked around for someone who'd do it on the 3650, so I don't know...
Kirill 19-06-2003, 09:32 AM The one time i had to unlock my phone (8890 a long time ago) I phoned my provider (Cingular) gave them my IMEI number and in 3 days they phoned me back with the unlock code.
fearce 19-06-2003, 11:59 AM how much did the service providers charge u?
and whose the AAS and why cant we discuss this?
pk501 19-06-2003, 12:41 PM I guess AAS is an acronym for "all about symbian". :bday:
fearce 19-06-2003, 03:24 PM aahhh.............
how dumb of me....lol sorry
Kirill 20-06-2003, 07:02 AM The provider was Cingular in California, US. They did not charge me anything but I was on a one year contract with them at the time.
fearce 20-06-2003, 08:46 AM thts good then i wonder if T-Mobile UK will do the same for me ne ideas pppl?
Tatuagem 20-06-2003, 12:55 PM In Portugal there's no way your service provider will allow you to unlock your phone for free. They charge you about 100 Euros to do it... it always has to be done "underground" if you prefer not to pay that much...
pk501 20-06-2003, 05:32 PM Orange in the UK charge £30, I think carphone warehouse charge £20, but I know if you go into London you get your phone unlocked for under £10.
anuvat 20-06-2003, 07:17 PM I have a software call DCT4 unlocking code generator. I've never used it. By supplying Operator, DCT4 phone model and IMEI, then the program will generate the unlocking code for you.
As I said earlier in the thread, the AAS viewpoint is that we should not discuss unlocking on the forum.
Therefore, at the request of Rafe, this thread is closed.
