does anyone know how to convert a realmedia video to a normal mpeg so i can convert to mp4 or atleast how to convert a realmedia video file to a avi?

there's the official real converter which converts to and from real formats which you can acquire from their official site or search on the net, i'm not posting any URL's as i downloaded it like 2 months ago.
