How many people here have 256meg mmc or higher running on their 3650 that DONT have any problems with slowing down or crashing due to the high memory.

If possible could you please put the make of the card so it gives newbies an indication as to what works and what doesnt and also your firmware version.

im getting my 3650 today, i have heard that 3.XX and above can handle 256meg mmc, just wondered if anyone else has 256. check places like ebay for 256, i have even seen 512meg on there but not sure if it will work

Bottom line is that Nokia will not support the card OFFICIALLY.

256 From what I can gather some work and some do not. So it's best to test it in the store when you buy.

Its not firmware related. If you search the forum you will find brands of MMC's that work with the 3650,both 256 and 512MB.

Like Kiril said,Nokia does not support MMC's above 128MB,maybe because they don't make any.

From what I Understand it is not "truly" a firmware issue. It has more to do with the latency of the card. The firmware has a set time that it waits for the card to respond. If the card does not respond in that time the OS gives up.

Now with a newer firmware the latency wait could be increased.

Also Larger cards are by default slower

Better quality cards are usualy faster

High Quality + High Capacity = possibly ok

Low Quality plus High Capacity = Probably not

Viking makes "High Speed" MMCs that may work, this just means they have been tested before they are sold to be below some resonse time. For the life of me I can't find what their criteria is.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I run Viking Highspeed 128Mb from memorysuppliers.com for $64 US delivered
