Just after the N-Gage title sequence on bootup, my N-Gage comes up with a message "App.closed Startup" ! which i can get rid off but i am unable to access the main menu, i can open my phone book and images thumbnails (but not open images)
This happened after i was trying to clear some system ram so i could install and run doom (the full 1.7 meg .sis) i think i deleted the startup picture (the green triangle type picture) thats about all i can imagine could have done something, this also means i can't access the N-Gage from my computer as nothing comes up when i plug the usb cable in.

Please help! Is there anyway i could fix the startup?

Have you tried to format the phone (using *#7370#)? That should solve the problem.

Sounds too familiar. Did you restore settings from other than N-Gage phone right before this happened?

Im having the exact same problem.
I have one problem with this solution...
here is what happens...
when i turn on the phone the white screen comes on, with the blue nokia on the bottom. after 3/4 seconds a line appears on the screen straight across just over the nokia sign. then the white screen comes back and stays there for 7/8 seconds then turns off.
with pressing the pencil button down while turning the phone on, the white screen comes on for 11seconds then turns off, turns back on with only the nokia sign without the back light.
I have tried with and without the memory card, and sim card.

the phone doesnt turn on to enter the reset info.

any ideas ? or do i have to queue up to send it back to nokia for a software upgrade ?

Yea sounds like its a NSC job. If you cant type in the *#7370# then the only option is to send it to nokia.

This can be solved sometimes by restarting the N-Gage and removing any memory card.

and try holding down the abc (pencil) key when you're starting up, that can help as it disables auto start memory-resident programs.

I got mine as a special they are doing with xtra vision. i got in touch with cust service and i am sending it back for repairing.

I've just developed the same probem. I know exactly what did it. I tried to switch on auto update of date & time and it happened after it rebooted

Does anyone have any ideas now?? What is that buttonny thing on the back of the phone by the battery?

I had the same problem a while back and i think i tried every thing possible to try and fix it, all i did was send my phone back to nokia and they flashed it for me with the newest firmware also.

How can a phone that cannot even start be reflashed??

You can holding the pencil and the green button before you removed sim card.( software 4.03 available)

Hallo um i absoulutley nothing about forums so i dont no if im asking in the right place... any hoo i've got the exact problem to a T as "samhail" everything happens with the nokia logo and stuff... but i no y mine dose it! its because i stoopidly pasted a file from a game into the system folder on my n-gage!... so what im asking is, if any one that reads this knows a way to get into the system folder on my n-gage with-out turning it on (so i can delete the stoopid file)... like using some PC program or somthing could they please send me the info to my email "sick_O_kid@hotmail.com" please... if so THANK U SOOO MUCH! COZ I LOVE MY N-GAGE AND ITS BROKEN :'-(
