RoYaL21 17-03-2004, 03:09 PM This will be my upgrade from 3650. I skipped the 6600 and i'm very satisfied with what the 7610 has to offer. Better start saving. machtoners 17-03-2004, 03:14 PM At least better looking than 6600! p.s:- @ Ghostdog- Can we have a poll- which one looks better;) Delta737 17-03-2004, 03:31 PM Originally posted by machtoners At least better looking than 6600! p.s:- @ Ghostdog- Can we have a poll- which one looks better;) Well, if there would be a poll, I would definately vote for 6600, the 7610 is one of the ugliest phones I have ever seen (offcourse that's just my opinion). Besides not much has changed in comparison to the 6600. Only major thing is the 1mp camera. No word about stereo... --> unimpressed and a bit disappointed SAbz911 17-03-2004, 03:57 PM Just when i no which fone im goin to upgrade to Nokia release a newer model that looks even nicer and has all the best functions! :( Ismail 17-03-2004, 05:25 PM i like the way it looks and also the abilty to record more than ten minutes video swwweeeeeetttt but what do they mean by reduced mmc? is it series 60 or 70? wat about built in mp3 supoort?nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo im lovin it:cool: Delta737 17-03-2004, 05:33 PM Originally posted by Ismail i like the way it looks and also the abilty to record more than ten minutes video swwweeeeeetttt but what do they mean by reduced mmc? is it series 60 or 70? wat about built in mp3 supoort?nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo im lovin it:cool: it means it only supports reduced mmc cards (not the standard one) It's series 60 (since series 70 does not exist. but it is symbian 7.0 if that is what you mean) There is mp3 support, although no word about stereo or mono Ismail 17-03-2004, 06:00 PM so that means we need to buy new mmc brands dammit and what i mean is is it like 6600 or 3650? Delta737 17-03-2004, 06:26 PM Originally posted by Ismail so that means we need to buy new mmc brands dammit and what i mean is is it like 6600 or 3650? yeah, you have to buy new cards. Smart marketing don't you think?:D It is like the 6600 Ismail 17-03-2004, 06:59 PM and just when 1gb mmc arrived:( Ismail 17-03-2004, 08:19 PM can anyone tell us about the reduced mmc? what is it? how does it look like? why use it instead of mmc? RoYaL21 17-03-2004, 08:37 PM It is like MMC but smaller. http://www.phonenetwork.de/cebit/6.jpg http://www.threegmobile.net/gallery0403/nokia7610/a15.jpg Check here for live photo's: http://www.threegmobile.net/international/index.html And here: http://www.mobilmania.cz/Bleskovky/AR.asp?ARI=106828 And here: http://mobil.idnes.cz/aktuality/nokia040317.html  I LOVE THIS PHONE  GhostDog 17-03-2004, 09:42 PM Originally posted by machtoners At least better looking than 6600! p.s:- @ Ghostdog- Can we have a poll- which one looks better;) I'm sure you can have a poll. You'll just have to start a new topic. My vote goes to the 7610.I don't like the blown frog/soap type desight of the 6600 :p Ismail, like Delta737 said, there is no such thing as Series 70.The 7610 will run Symbian 7.0s and since there is themes support,Series 60 2.0 on top i guess,so it will be like the 6600. ebo 17-03-2004, 11:18 PM The 7610 sounds somewhat great, but there are a few cons: - No EDGE (EGPRS) support! I already thought this was de facto in new Nokia models. - RS-MMC (reduced size multimediacards). What am I supposed to do with all the regular MMCs I already own? - The press release says it has "72 MB of extendable memory", but the specs say it has 8 MB of internal memory and comes with a 64 MB RS-MMC card. I feel that the press release was misleading. I think I'll be waiting for the follower of the 6600 for the European markets (like the 6620). Tero evobit 18-03-2004, 05:54 AM Nokia blimmen do it yet again. Another 'incomplete' phone. No mention of it's mp3 playback ability. Obviously they've left out a radio _again_  Wonder if it even has stereo sound output. Looks cool though. I'd buy it if it had the features I want. Has anyone seen a photo taken by a 1mp phone camera yet (any brand?). Still holding out for the SX1.... Wonder what the new samsung will offer... orange 18-03-2004, 07:33 AM Originally posted by evobit Nokia blimmen do it yet again. Another 'incomplete' phone. No mention of it's mp3 playback ability. The specs just talk about mp3 and aac support. It doesn't specify stereo output. I think it'a just a 6600 repackaged phone with better camera, increased internal memory, and a video app. Also what is the available RAM to run programs after the OS loads? Have they given the specs at forum nokia? GhostDog 18-03-2004, 02:02 PM machtoners, the 7610 has a Pop Port,so it will have stereo output. SAbz911 18-03-2004, 05:26 PM Originally posted by evobit Nokia blimmen do it yet again. Another 'incomplete' phone. Has anyone seen a photo taken by a 1mp phone camera yet (any brand?) Saw the gx30 the other day and was supprisingly disappointed. Not half as good as i thought it would be. No better than the gx20. I like the look of the fone and some of the features, but the more i read about it the bigger a mug i feel. Nokia are taking one step forward and two steps backward. Hopefully the symbian super fone of our dreams will eventually be released. SAbz Delta737 18-03-2004, 06:30 PM I see that there is a "dedicated" 7610 forum on AAS now. Maybe this topic can be moved there... RoYaL21 18-03-2004, 07:01 PM I asume that the RAM to run programs is also improved. 65k screen, 1Megapixel camera with 4x zoom, 8MB phone memory, Stereo sound, USB support, Symbian OS 7.0s and the size are a superb upgrade from a 3650. Maybe not from a 6600, but definatly from a 3650. Thats why i'm so damned excited. carcomptoy 19-03-2004, 06:17 AM I think that the 7610 looks great, but they should reconsider their color choices...black and pink (i don't care, it does look pink)? I mean, COME ON...and what's with the new trend of RS-MMC? Now we're gonna have to change technologies again! And why can't Nokia ever make flip phones? Yes, I'm aware of the 7200, but that can never be available in the U.S.! Does Nokia not believe in minimalism? And why is the screen smaller than the Siemens SX1? And the Pop-port?! Why must Nokia insist on using this complicated and cost-inducing technology? I don't know, I think I'm just spiteful from the Samsung D700 not being released...that phone was my dream phone! machtoners 19-03-2004, 11:57 AM Originally posted by GhostDog machtoners, the 7610 has a Pop Port,so it will have stereo output. Sorry, overlooked the Port-pop interface.;) :p jenny 19-03-2004, 01:48 PM wow, the picture quality is awesome! I like the design:) Any clue how much it will cost? Same price as the 6600? Anietje25 19-03-2004, 08:29 PM That phone is great i cant wait to buy it it has everything that i want in a phone evobit 20-03-2004, 02:34 AM Originally posted by GhostDog machtoners, the 7610 has a Pop Port,so it will have stereo output. Thanks GhostDog, I missed that too. So it's got stereo output that you can only use with a nokia headset. Faugh. SX1 still rules, I can plug the output from that directly into any audio device via rca eg my car stereo, or home stereo. machtoners 20-03-2004, 02:42 PM I have some queries:- 1. Why is Adapter for Reduced Size MultiMediaCard (MMC) included in the sales package? Is it for compatibility with normal MMC cards? 2. Does the camera have an option to choose between potrait and landscape modes? petr 20-03-2004, 02:58 PM Originally posted by Ismail can anyone tell us about the reduced mmc? what is it? how does it look like? why use it instead of mmc? It is of half size but the bus is same. See comparison at: http://www.hitachi.com/New/cnews/E/2002/1121/ http://www.renesas.com/eng/news/2003/1127/ For classic MMC readers there is adapter bundled with N7610. Ismail 20-03-2004, 05:17 PM ok so can i use the adapter on another phone? fro example rsmmc and adapter plugged in on 3650? N/A 20-03-2004, 05:29 PM Yes. Ismail 20-03-2004, 07:55 PM well thats good news thank god the 9500 doesnt have it too bad tough the 1gb mmc just started to appear carcomptoy 21-03-2004, 04:24 AM Someone may have already answered this, but just out of curiosity, since they have the same connection, couldn't the MMC be plugged into the same port as the RS-MMC, albeit the regular size MMC will be sticking out a little? Ismail 21-03-2004, 04:59 AM i thought about that but only if the mmc is hot swabble it would be possible but since its under the battery i doubt there will be room Ismail 21-03-2004, 05:02 AM click on demo http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,54922,00.html# :) carcomptoy 21-03-2004, 05:09 AM So I gather Nokia has once again chosen not to make the memory card not hot swappable? REALIS 28-03-2004, 04:20 PM Yes they have. And it's a stupid move at that. Another thing is that they chose to use a "reduced size" memory card. Meaning that anyone who bought a large MMC for use with his 6600 or 3650 will have to buy a different kind of mmc to use in the 7610. :( carcomptoy 29-03-2004, 12:25 AM Well, technically, a 64 MB RS-MMC is included in the box, so there's no buying necessary, unless of course, if you want a bigger card, then you'll obviously have to buy one yourself. And the adapter will enable you to save the settings on your old Series 60 phone and put it back in the 7610... :D RoYaL21 08-04-2004, 09:47 AM Here are some new pics of the phone. Also report but in French. http://mobile.bpit.ch/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=37&t=11117& Starlet 03-07-2004, 10:31 PM --------------- |
