View Full Version : Some queries about this phone
cyrax83 17-04-2004, 07:31 AM I've got some questions about this phone, it looks awesome despite what people say, really funky, i like the design. The red/black one looks awesome :)
Anyway i've got a couple of questions :
1) Will it be able to set mp3's as ringtones ?
2) Is there a stereo headset available in the pop-port format ? E.g. like the ones available on the 8310 with the dual earpiece ? I hope there is.
3) In reference to above, i know radio isn't available on this phone which is a bit of a dissapointment, but is there a stereo headset like above but with an inbuilt radio i could buy from somewhere ? (dual earpiece). i've heard about these but never seen one yet.
3) most important question, any idea when it'll be able in Australia ? :D
Gregg 17-04-2004, 01:52 PM There will be a dual headset available like the 8310. I am unsure about the MP3 question but since I just got a 7610 yesterday I will try it and let you know. As far as Australia I am sure it will launch soon.
GhostDog 17-04-2004, 03:10 PM Dual Mono or Stereo?
Ismail 17-04-2004, 05:53 PM cool so u have a 7610?
how is it?
take some live pics
Gregg 18-04-2004, 03:52 AM I have the black one wtih the silver and red trim. I do not have any accesories for it yet so I am unsure if it is dual monon or stereo. I just got a 9500 as well. It is very cool.
cyrax83 18-04-2004, 09:30 AM can you give us some feedback on the phone ? design ? ergonomics (how is the keypad ?) etc
Gregg 18-04-2004, 12:56 PM I can tell you that the design is great. Like any new keypad layout you need to adjust but so far it has been easy. It fits in your hand great! It feels much smaller than the 6600 even though they have the same siz screen.
Ismail 18-04-2004, 07:38 PM please please take some live pics of the 9500 and post them here
RoYaL21 18-04-2004, 07:52 PM please please take some live pics of the 7610 and post them here
GhostDog 18-04-2004, 09:26 PM please please take some live pics of the 9500 and post them here
Gregg,if you actially do take pictures of the 9500,do not post there here, there is a separate 9500 forum,so you can post them there.
Ismail 19-04-2004, 12:06 AM just post them there just please post them
Gregg 19-04-2004, 01:48 AM just post them there just please post them
Ok here is the 7610. Crappy picture taken with my 6230. My wife has the digital camera. I will take some good ones tomorrow at work.
Gregg 19-04-2004, 01:50 AM And here it the 6230! I cannot post pictures of the 9500 yet due to an agreement. I will soon though.
Asakura 19-04-2004, 08:15 AM Hi,
I would like to ask about Nokia 7610.What language is it supported? Is it chinese viewable? And how many chord in polyphonic tone?normal would be 16-polyphonic but i heard that 7610 had 48-polyphonic.Is it true??
Thank You.
cyrax83 19-04-2004, 10:25 AM *drool* the 7610 looks sweet there
cyrax83 19-04-2004, 10:47 AM Gregg : thanks for the pictures :) One or two more questions i've got. Have you tried the mp3 ringtone support yet ? And second question, i own a 7650 atm, and on polyphonic ringtones, it sounds pretty flat actually (not 3d or "vibrant" at all) like alot of other phones. I was wondering how is the 7610 speaker with respect to wav/mp3 music/ringtones and polyphonic ?
Thanks
andrew04 19-04-2004, 06:01 PM I got some questions as like ervery1 else!
Where did you get the phone? Price?
Can you use the stereo radio headset from nokia? It uses pop-port..
Whats the sound quality like?
Also could you get some pics taken by the 7610 please.
Im looking to get this for my next phone, if it has stereo sound that is.
Thanks!
Edit- How can you use the stereo headphones you mentioned on the 7610?? The pop-port doesn't allow any other earphones other than pop-port ones...!!??? :?
Gregg 22-04-2004, 05:35 PM Hi Again. Sorry for the delays but I am traveling. I will answer more questions when I return on Monday. I also got another toy yesterday. Pretty cool.
GhostDog 22-04-2004, 06:16 PM Good for you Gregg! :) I really wish i had al those device on my disposal. If you have the time to write a small preview of the devices maybe we can publish it on AAS's newspage.
One more thing,is the N-Gage picture taken with the 7610?
RoYaL21 22-04-2004, 08:50 PM Looks like the picture is taken with a 7610, cause he has one and the resolution in 1152x864. The quality could be better if you ask me, but still love the phone :D
GhostDog 23-04-2004, 12:35 AM I knew this would happen. They've used the same cheap plastic lens and only increased the megapixels which would mean only bigger bad quality photos.
RoYaL21 23-04-2004, 10:56 AM Damn, thats not good. But i've seen other pictures taken with a 7610 and they were of much better quality. They still have more than a month to improve some things, so i keep hoping.
Anyway, the Nojia S60 phones now have an 3.5mm lens and the 7610 has an 3.7mm lens. Isnt that better?
GhostDog 23-04-2004, 01:26 PM I'm pretty sure that they won't change the hardware one month before the release.3.7mm is an improvement but as you can see,not enough to matter.
sataguler 23-04-2004, 01:27 PM Hi Gregg , I have some questions for you about Nokia 7610! I am planning to buy a Nokia 7610 , but it is important for me if it is stereo or not! My previous mobile was Nokia 6600 and I was listening MP3 with it. And its sound was mono and awful for me. Is nokia 7610 stereo or do you know the sonud difference between Nokia 6600 and Nokia 7610? Also I want to learn if nokia 7610's video recording quality is better than Nkia 6600 or the same?
Delta737 24-04-2004, 08:18 AM Here is a picture I made with the 7610 during cebit (sent to my P900 via BT afterwards). It's a bit "moved", but it gives an impression of the quality
7610 forever 25-04-2004, 11:10 AM Hi people
do someone know the speccifications of the processor and amount of ram available on the nokia 7610?
I supose and want that nokia had put better hardware than 6600. At least 20 megs of ram and 130 mhz processor.
Gregg, would you mind looking that information in your unit for us?
Byez
GhostDog 25-04-2004, 01:03 PM I think Gregg is bound by NDA and can't give such information away.
Asakura 26-04-2004, 06:41 AM Hi,
So what language is it supported and how many chords in polyphonic tones?
Thank You.
RoYaL21 26-04-2004, 10:36 AM I think all major languages and its 48 chords.
sataguler 26-04-2004, 11:30 AM Does it have a really stereo MP3 playing? Is its sound really of good qulity?

Here you can download the nokia 7610 user manual.
it doesn't clear out nothing i really knew but its nice to have it.
cyrax83 03-05-2004, 12:45 PM *bump*
hurry up 7610 :(
AEFOX 03-05-2004, 01:35 PM Hi!..
Don't talk crap about the 7610 camera... all the pictures
posted here are taken very close to the target... and the focus of the 7610
it's a little far from the normal... like you can see on the CeBit expo shot .. the focus image (target) it's on the leters on the stand behind the person... not on him...
So the camera it's very good... but you need to be careful with the focus...
cya!
GhostDog 03-05-2004, 01:50 PM Well,i disagree.I wouldn't even call the camera an improvement.Like i said, they used the same plastic cheap lense and only increased the megapixels and as a result you will get higher resolution low quality pictures as oposed to low resolution low quality pictures.
AEFOX 03-05-2004, 06:31 PM This are to me very good pictures... considering that are very small files (Low quality JPG 100kb) ... like any other s60 phone with some other software installed to take bmp files or jpg with less compression i am sure that the quality it's a lot better...
cya!
GhostDog 04-05-2004, 12:35 PM The compression is not big,its actually normal when compared with existing Series 60 camera phones - 640x480 arround 30KB.You will only "notice" some improvement if you resize the images to 640x480. ;)
Like i said, the same cheap plastic lense, only bigger files.
AEFOX 04-05-2004, 04:54 PM HI!..
GhostDog...
A 100kb file of 1152 x 864 (1 mpx) it's a pic saved at MEDIUM quality JPG..
so... YES it's a low quality image file...
A GOOD quality 1 mpx file use 400kb! at High Quality JPG ...
So don't tell me that 100kb it's not a high compressed file ...
i am totally sure that if you use another Camera App like FlexiCam or Photographer up coming versions for 7610 you will get a much better quality images (Less compressed or even BMP files 2.9 meg large)
And try to get the same 7610 image quality enlarging one 6600 640x480 image to 1152x864... and welcome to the BLUR WORLD... :)
thanks!
GhostDog 05-05-2004, 01:42 PM AEFOX,i'm not going to argue with you any more,it has proven to be futile in the past ;)
This will probably be my last post on this subject but i still believe that there is no improvement in the camera except the megapixels. The improvement should've been in the lense.I've seen VGA cameras with better quality.

hey guys,
donīt forget - itīs only a cmos megapixel sensor!!!
thereīs no ccd sensor like in almost every cheap digital camera!!!
as long as nokia uses such cmos censors, there would be no sharp image!
compare pics of 7610 with pics of sonyericsson s700/chep 1megapix ccd digital cam
phllp_w 22-05-2004, 11:26 PM Hi all! :hello:
Gregg, I've got some questions for ya.
Is this the 7610 prototype or the actual phone that will be in stores ?
Does it come with headphones in the sales package ?
Does it have stereo or mono sound ?
Can you take some more pics with it and post them here ?
Thanks! ;)
ilookforpics 30-05-2004, 11:01 AM Seems the 7610 is pretty soon to come. Most danish shops has the phone on their pricelists, and expects it in about 2 weeks.
Now, I was going to get 6230, but this phone seems kinda sweeter.
But all this mono/stereo things. Is the sound of the mp3's bad, or what?
mR_CaESaR 31-05-2004, 07:22 AM i've got a few questions regarding this phone.
- Is the menu speed much faster than the 6600? i hope its as fast as the 7610 or the 6230.
- Can you add .midi files to mms'? or is nokia totally abandoning the idea of being able to attach .midi's on their phones?
thanks in advance
