I´m considering buying a 7650 and I´m very curious about the camera. I know that the photo quality is bad, but I´d like to know how bad it is. Thanks in advance!

The photo quality is only bad in relation to dedicated digital photos. As a means of quickly capturing a moment, it's really great!

When I bought my first digital camera, it was £99 and took photos of 640x480. It had a flash, but the quality of the photos was absolutely pants and not even in the same league as the 7650.

The phone's photos are not awesome, but they are very respectable, even in poor lighting conditions.

yes focus seems to be the problem.
The photo quality otherwise is not bad.
Esspecially the night mode is very effective considering there is no flash.

And also for those of you who havent discovered it yet, or have never really owned a camera like myself, If your geting those hazzy noise marks all over ya pics, it means there isnt/wasnt enough light there, so take pictures in a more well lit place
or use the night option ont he camera

I dont know about Greece, but here the 7650 is very advertised so that everybody knows that it can take pictures. Even though I am Greek I have to say that this is NOTHING compared to the English women and how they dress. This place is strange like that, it's like no other site on the net. I'm sure Rafe is somehow sending us subliminal messages through the site to keep us comming back. :D

But then with my new N7650 handset I got the otherday
Now I know lighting has a HELL of alot to do with how well a picture turns out on these things but gees, have a look at this pciture I took lastnight, at nighttime and in Night Mode on the phone.

Look at all the damn blue specks over the dog mainly, it seems to be in poor lighting these blue discolourations occur, anyone got any thoughts or ideas or expeirence with this?

Unfortuntely I never noticed or took too many night pics with the original handset, only one in standard mode down the street at nighttime, and it came out with hundrerds on sorta blue dots on it, but I figured that was coz I didnt use night mode, etc but

Yet today, the pictures dont seem to have anything wrong with them, so I dont know, is the phone trying to drive me mad??

The blue spots are there because of the way hightmode works,any ideas on how software lighting would work? My guess is that pixels are beeing edited (brighter colours and such,gamma encrease) so we'll get the ilusion of brighter pictures.So my guess is that the spots are bunch of badly edites/colorized pixels

You only need to worry if you are getting the blue dots interfering with daylight images. Someone posted a link here some time ago to explain why some digital cameras are better than others and this is probably a symptom of a camera that isn't state of the art.

but since its not occuring in daylight your is quite plausable.

However you have failed to mention weather this is occuring in other phones or mine, because to be quite honest, I dont know how but this handset just seems to really lack sharpness, now maybe this is because ive been using my PC more, and its a 17inc TFT LCD, so maybe my eyes are honing in on the clarity from that and expecting it there on the phone.

I've not taken many, but of the night ones I have taken with my 7650, I've never seen that problem.

Perhaps try taking a photo of a plain coloured wall in low light, with the night setting. See if the same thing happens.

I always see it on mine during low light shots and I don't worry about it at all. My daytime shots are fine.

The one with my dog in it and the thousand spots I could see on the phone, this ones blue spots I didnt actually see till I got the pic on my PC.

Both! Whether they're viewed on the phone, with zooming in to the image a 100%, or if I upload them to my PC, they're fine.

Just had a thought....how are you transferring them? By either Bluetooth, or infra-red, is there a possibility that you're getting interference in your upload?

Try zooming into the image on the phone. Are the coloured specs on the image before you transfer it to the PC?

The reason the dots can't be seen on the phone (I guess) is that they are so small, they get 'scaled out', even though I can see the dots flickering in the viewfinder before actually snapping the photo.

What I do hate is the fact that the photo isn't actually taken until after the camera noise. I have a tendancy of moving a camera away from a target once the lense noise has stopped, but on the 7650, when the noise stops is when the picture is being taken :( !

OMG, theres the blue dots on the site, right there, man if I was scientist I would be working on a way to stomp out this 'Noise'

one last thing....

On the Main menu for example
the gradient bar up the top, does yours(anyone out there) gradient bar, very smooth fade to very light blue, or does it sorta pixelate right at the end.

Because mine sorta pixelates off at the end, of the gradient, yet on the Nokia 7650 cover, theres is one smooth bar(but i think the picture is docktered)

Yes It is odd that I would ask this, but ive spent the last day and a half starring at my screen looking for blue pixels and dead pixels so ive noticed every single little possible flaw in the display, so if you could answer this to put my mind at ease once and for all, it would be excellently appreciated :) :)

OsirisM i have experienced this with both mine and my girlfriend phone. It si VERY normal! I was also the one who posted the link explaining the different qualities of a digital camera! Night mode is a software feature and is like a poor software backlight seen on camcorders. So dont worry about m8! The blue spots are sometimes there, and sometimes not!

for the gradient set the contrast to more light not to dark and you'll notice that the blockyard pixel thingy will be smooth

OsirisMedia: if you are worried about if your phone is fauly or not,dont be,i've seen 7 or 8 N7650's and they all have the same problem in some night mode shots

THanks guys, well im down with the camera thing, I accept that the camera at nighttime, isnt going to take crystal clear shots, that website, and you guys have shown me ther light with that.


But gees sorry to keep bring it up but my last concern is the screen itself now. As I said I may be looking for flaws in it because of how dodgey I thought it was being with the camera, but the screen seems very pixelated, I know its a small device, but its meant to be a true colour screen, and the background ont he phone on some of the backgrounds I put on it seem to make it very noticeably pixelated.

I mean its very difficult to explain, and see I dont know weather the first one did it too, or I was just too wrapped in it at the time to notice.

But this pic here, is the wallpaper that I use, use that as the backgriund and tilt the phone away from you slighty, when looking down on it and its pixel galaore. Is that normal?

And the gradient bar, even on a very high contrast, so its very light on the screen it definitely doesnt fade to white smoothy, these all these diorientated damn pixels there.

Now keep in mind this is all done from looking 10-15cm away from the screen. Is this normal

See reading this It sounds like im being paranoid, but I dont know am I expecting too much from this lil device, or am I looking for flaws in it like no tomorrow. I guess you pay this much and the first one impressed me so much that I expect alot from it.

Did you resize the picture to 174x132 pixels? Use an art package to do this, it'll average the pixels rather than just 'dumping' them (which is what happens when the fone resizes an image)

From memory, I think the phone's screen can actually only display 4096 colours at a time, so it's not true colour. However, the pictures it can take are in true colour, so they will look better when uploaded to a PC.

It must be down to the 12bit screen. I get slight pixelation in the middle-blue area of the butterfly image too. It isn't that bad. About the same as my iPAQ. The orange blobs indicate where the pixelation occurs...

You can try a image manipulation software like Photoshop and sharpen it a bit and do some fine tunning! The other thing you can do is retake te picture with more light!

Spotligh is no good. Ambient light would be better! However, the program your can zoom is CameraFX, it does a x10 Digital Zoom which a program like Photoshop can do as well with the Resize command. The picture quality of CameraFX is not that good since it is 160 pixels.

Image properties always carry several information concerning metatags. For pics taken with 7650 you have a metatag from nokia.

The images taken were from the Nokia 7650. (what would I have to gain by lying? lol).

The images were uploaded using the Image uploader, directly to club nokias website. the reason that they are 320x240... when browsing the album (individual pics) they are shown at this size, which are the ones I copied. I have since found that using the magnifying glass, you get the original pic :)

most of my pics are taken at night, and I haven't gotten used to the fact that there's a delay after the clicking noise to the actual image being taken (grrrrr).

Yeah, but look how poor the images are from my 7650 when compared to everybody elses. :(

Mine were taken in low light conditions but so were most of the one's taken in clubs & pubs on the previous page.

I can't understand FTP, can't use a point and click camera.. im so poo. :D

Well I had pictures with this quality in much lighter conditions! It really depends of the place, the light and the mode you choose! I noticed that the night feature of the camera does produce dodgy pics!

All you have to do is post the link to the image, in your case:

Yeh. I have noticed you need to let the Night mode 'warm up' for a while to get the lightest shots, you also need to hold the camera very still as it makes the CCD very susceptive to blurring.

It can produce some very arty shots though, i think this would make an awesome album cover:

lmao.you wanna laugh i nearly got busted taking a photo and i forgot to turn the warning tones off and i aimed at the chick comin up the street and KLIK she turned to see where the sound came from and i luckly turned the 7650 the other direction before she could realize what happened,close call huh.....i do get around dont i wondering the streets why not,i use to takephotos of cars,motorcycles,sunsets,skys etc etc,but now im taking photos of WORK OF ART,womans tit and ass,im sure you all like it..you wouldnt be human if you didnt
