View Full Version : SmartAnswer (in other words Answer Machine)
Boiling Ice 27-09-2002, 07:05 AM As in their site www.smartappz.de and www.symbainware.com, they will release the application SmartAnswer which is an answer machine program. I have alot of trust in those two companies, so far their applications were very good, plus almost bugless.
more than one year so far PSI NT has promissed to release this application but they are having troubles getting it on the road, plus I guess they are putting more efforts on 7650 software than 9210s.
www.smartappz.de doesn't say much about the new application but I'm sure they will release it soon and will be running. Visit the site and have a look :D

upponalle 27-09-2002, 12:09 PM Hi guys,
Be patient ;-)) In a few days (not decades!) we'll make an official announcement. You won't be disappointed ;)
This comes directly from Symbianware... ;) (posted on Sept. 23rd in the topic SmartAnswer).
So there is something nice in the pipeline...
Boiling Ice 27-09-2002, 12:21 PM I'm sure they will release it very soon and almost bugless. I'm sure it will be well designed and memory optimized. You can tell they are soo good from their perviouse applications. To me this application is a must :)
whiplash 27-09-2002, 01:39 PM crystal ball... crystal ball...

Nosferatu 29-09-2002, 07:50 PM :D Here's some wav file to get u guys excited...

KayonLord 30-09-2002, 07:25 AM Hey i got a lot of sounds from http://www.answeringmachine.co.uk/ some years back!
If you people want i can zip em up and dump them on a server somewhere for you to download!
You can also get them from the above link.
I just had a look and the site is still up but i think you need to register with them now.
whiplash 30-09-2002, 10:03 AM thanks to da ER6 Count Dracula!
upponalle 30-09-2002, 10:47 AM Now we just need SmartAnswer... ;)
bin machine 30-09-2002, 11:44 AM I am looking forward to it.
One day I am on the meeting with my 9210 turn to answering machine.
I hope that one can in with the 9210 auto-answer won't heard my conversation in the room.
I also wish to see that I can customize my voice message to answer the call.
Finally someone did it.
How about one for 7650?
Boiling Ice 30-09-2002, 12:20 PM I'm not sure about not hearing the conversation while the Answer Machine is on.... coz if you look at a normal answer machines, they work while every one can hear what's playing.
I hope it will be optimized on my 9210, that while it's running it will not be a havey app.
KayonLord 30-09-2002, 01:51 PM Oh any one out there know more details of the app?
Like can you select diff msgs for diff people or groups of people?
SwitchBlade 30-09-2002, 02:10 PM Erm, I may have missed the boat here, but why have an answerphone on your 9210 which would fill your MMC with wave file recordings (especially when someone cranks you and leaves you with silence for 5 minutes), when you can use the answer service with your network operator?
Erm, I may have missed the boat here, but why have an answerphone on your 9210 which would fill your MMC with wave file recordings (especially when someone cranks you and leaves you with silence for 5 minutes), when you can use the answer service with your network operator?
How about where your operator charges you to retrieve voicemail messages? Or if you want a permanent store of messages? O just want something funky?
KayonLord 30-09-2002, 03:16 PM Well if you could have diff sounds for diff groups that would be cool!
Thats basicaly what i want from it!
Else you right not to much use.
Mmm... any idea if it will only be able to use wavs and the sound or will it also be able to use mp3? Dont think it will though!
SwitchBlade 01-10-2002, 02:23 AM Operators charge to recieve voicemail??????? Mine is free :) even better I've just found out that data calls come under my free minutes again, I'm a happy boy once more..... As for storing them you can record while playing back from voicemail.
Boiling Ice 01-10-2002, 05:43 AM talking about filling your MMC with wavs, if you are planning to put your 9210 on answer machine for 2 months, then yeah it would fill it up ;)
through eRecorder with a free space of 10 MBs on my MMC it allows me to record over 1 hour of voice calls, so it wouldn't be a serios problem, specialy if you have a 128MB MMC ;)
it would be cool if it would play a special message for each group or persons.
The application will play wavs, not sure about the MP3s.
Dazler 01-10-2002, 07:06 AM Wav's encoded for the 9210 are a LOT smaller then mp3's
KayonLord 01-10-2002, 09:09 AM Right, here is the file with sounds.
They are in mp3 format so you will need conver them to wav first.
The file is about 32meg.
Have fun!

whiplash 01-10-2002, 12:14 PM what would be nice for this prog is to: (SmartAnswer)
-- custom "answer" your incoming calls with pre-recorded messages to specific contact, specific group and even specific profile -- wouldn't this be cool?
-- and who knows, this might automatically reply to SMS messages (similar to freeware SMS Assistant) -- again to secific contact, specific group and specific profile... and specific "key-words" on the message received (similar to the unreleased 9210 Plus)...
;) ;)

KayonLord 15-10-2002, 02:19 PM Well there have been some ideas posted on the forum. So i guess they are wokring on adding some of the ideas we put out so that everyone is happy with there next killer app! I dont mind waiting another week or so and get a killer polished app rather than some kind of a half job that does less then the voice mail i get from my service provider.
