I've just got my nokia 7610 2 days ago and it's only got english installed i'm looking to add asian characters support (chinese japanese) so that the titles of the mp3s will at least show up. any help would be appreciated thanks.

You can't add new language support on your own. You need a new firmware release (with new/different) language set flashed by a Nokia authorized service center. As far as I know, there is no Japanese language support in Series 60 yet (Chinese - Simplified/Traditional - versions exist).
