Hi. I'm a total newbie to EPOC, although I have been using Palm and WinCE handhelds and palmtops for several years. I've just started syncing the 9210 with my PC and it is SLLOOOOOWW. It seems to be transferring at 9600bps! I have looked everywhere in the manuals and PC Suite and there is no indication on how to adjust the serial transfer rate. Can anyone help me here?

Also, is the IR port on the 9210 FastIR (FIR) or Standard IR (SIR)? If it is FIR, we should be able to transfer at 4Mbps.

All i know is that 9210 uses IrDA and i don't know for sure but "http//www.irda.org/standards/standards.asp" says that speed could be 4Mbps... see for more.

The first (too obvious?) place to look would be in the com port settings speed - the default in windows is 9600, bur the max is 115200. The only other possibility - mine is also fairly slow even at this speed - is the fact that the program has to do the hard work of converting from one file format to another. Try doing the download and running task manager at the same time. If the processor is maxed out the only possilbe fix is a processor upgrade.

The default is always 115Kbits
