I use a program called Audacity to crop a section of an existing mp3 file, then export it as a new mp3 file. Then i export it to my 7610

Try using a free program called audiograbber from audiograbber.com. It allows you to convert cd tunes into mp3 or wav, wav being the format of a true tone on nokias

I do that too, works really well. This way you can have an mp3 start at any point you want (the good stuff is usually half way along the song), and the files are considderable smaller)

To the original poster: DBpoweramp music converter is a really powerfull FREE converter program, that lets you convert alot of formats to alot of other formats (mp3 to wav is a possibility) I use it alot to convert my wma's to mp3, but it will serve your purpose fine too

i dl it liao but have some problems ripping the songs. For audacity, i dunno how to transfer the aud. format to either wav. or mp3. format. When i copy n paste the songs and i export them either to a wav. or mp3. format, it did not transfer the part that i rip but it transfer the whole song. Can u teach me cos i m abit slow...heex. :con? Actually the DBpoweramp is better or the audacity? Thanks in adv... :)

i am also vexed by the truetone issue- which handsets support truetones, what should be the file formats and how long on each handset, and what converter can I use? Thanks a lot.

True Tones Are Supported by 6600,7610,6670,6260 and upcomings from Symbian Series.
The File Format is .awb. And Lenght Depend from handset to handset. U Can Convert mp3 to .awb via Nokia Multimedia Convertor.

This Nokia Multimedia converter seems ok but it only runs on Win 2000 or XP. Is there an earlier version that will play on earlier OS like ME/98 ?
