here in italy every forum dedicated to mobile phone is in ferment because the operator TIM does not sell sim-locked phones, or at least never believed in this form of contract till now

lot of people send mail to TIM for info and get answered that the phone has only some operator theme and setting preloaded ..... nothing is locked ..... but the price is unbeliveble .....

forgive my bad english

Hi, :D

TIM never, I said never  lock the phones,
it is my expirience trough last few years, I dont understend italian so good, but u can see that contract price is 220 €, so thats mean that 349 maybe is a regular price for tim users.

At least I hope that, im going to Italy for about 10 days so....

no , the 220 € that you see are in credit for mms and 3g services (you have a month to use this credit) INCLUDED in the package for 349€ (that become 299 if you do an MPN from another operator)

the phone is definitively not sim-locked, but everyone is waiting to see if there is some form of lock in the firmware like BT-lock, settings-lock or similar

first persons that have ordered the phone think to have the phone in hand tuesday-wednsday

I found a listing for the 6630 here:
http://www.deshop.nl/produkt_detail.asp?hgr_id=12&gr_id=01&produkt_id=1201NOK6630AG
(netherlands)

553,35 eur without contract. If the Italy price is real and without contract it may be cheaper for me to fly to Italy to pick one up instead of buying one here.

I'm italian. I just orded 6630 and pay it 312 euros included shipping. The phone shipped today, time 2 day the jawel are in my hand. I post little review with photos as soon as possible.

PS the phone is unlocked, sim free. Only some TIM setting that you can delete easly. A very little TIM logo on the front of phone is present.

mck3nzi3 where did you purchase it from, and what do you think of it? Can you send me a link please. Do you know if they will send one to the UK? Unfortunately i dont speak any italian. According to the tim website, it's not yet available i think.

I ordered it here http://www.trwhardware.it/
According to their web site only 20 pz are in stock now (from 200 of today in the morning).
If they send it outside the Italy I don't know. Try to tell him.
Hope help you, bye.

ok, thanks for help, i am awaiting a response via email from them. Could you please answer another question for me.The price seems very low for this phone compared to other prices, if it comes simfree then how come there seems to be some sort of deal so it includes some free airtime (not sure of the content as my italian is no good) if it has no simcard? Quote: (ACQUISTANDO QUSTO TELEFONO AVRAI GRATIS 220€ DI SERVIZI TIM (SUONERIE, MMS, 3G.......)

obviously you can activate that credit only on a Tim pre-payed card

btw , even if the Tim dealers are accepting prenotation, MNP ecc. for this phone, none has seen it in shop except for some dummy-phone, so we still dont know if there is some form of locking in the brand-firmware even if Tim say that definitively is NOT sim-locked

ok, latest info for anyone in the UK, i phoned nokia UK yesterday. The 6630 is still undergoing compatability tests for the UK networks and they are aware that they are going to italy. The best idea i could get out of them was "by the end of the year." So they're not giving much away. very frustrating!!

strange!
here in austria the official release date was 27.10 with a new contract for € 0,-- (only on 27th)
now the cheapest price with a contract: € 49,--

facts:
- its weight is less then other 3G Phones (e.g. NEC 616)
- they forgot to translate some menues from english to german
- SW-Version: 2.39.126
- The Standard Picture Galery shows now all Pictures (without directories)
- really good sound-output (better than 6600)
