i am having problems with my 7610 and would to format it so it is like it was when i received it. if i format, will it wipe everything on the phone? if it does how do i get back all the stuff it came with. i didn't back the phone up to pc when i received it but have done recently. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

If you reformat it, it will wipe out all user data in phone memory (contacts, calendar, pictures, settings & such).

It will leave everything else in the same state things were in, more or less, as they were when the phone left the factory where it was made.

The SIM card is not touched. The memory card is not touched.

But do remove any passwords on memory cards you have, before you reformat.

thanks for your reply, i now feel confident to reformat the phone, only thing is i dont know how to di it!!!! sorry to sound daft as i know most peopled on this forum are clued up. could you please let me know how to format a nokia 7610. thank you very much.

search the forum and u will find numerous threads on how to do it.. there are two types of formats.. hard format and soft format, just search

Try the step's below !!
Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)

Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.


Full phone format on a Series-60 device

If any of the problems listed below is happening to your phone:
A. Blank screen phone unable to boot-up.
B. Phone is only able to boot-up to "Nokia" screen (may flash "Nokia" 4 times also).
C. Install a program but unable to uninstall it.
D. Unable to delete certain files on C drive.


--- WARNING: This will ERASE EVERYTHING on your phone ---

If you have any files that are important to you, make backups.


1. Make sure you phone is fully charged.

2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card (if possible).

3. Switch-off your phone.

4. Press and hold these three keys together

-Green dial key,
-Star key (*)
-Three key (3)

then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.

Do not let go the three keys until you see the "formatting" screen displayed

5. After a few minutes, the format will be complete. Your 6600 will now be at its original factory settings.

i have already formatted my phone... saw the word "formatting" on the screen followed by black horizontal bars slowly covering my screen.....when formatting was finished, it rebooted my phone...but im still getting the error App. closed Apparcserverthread! right after the Nokia welcome screen, and before i get to enter PIN...please help! :(

NO....i tried removing the memory card and all went fine.it boot normally with no errors....but when i put in my MMC, i cant access anything, menu, camera, etc...only thekeypad is working.... what should i do?

Reformat the memory card, because what ever is causing your problems apparently is on it.

i formatted it and everything went well..... but now i got the SKULLS virus :(
