i was installing some application on my phone earlier. during the installation i cut the phone off and then tried to cut it back on. the phone pops up with a screen that says "phone start up failed. contact the retailer". what the heck do i do? and my phone is not under warranty.

The same thing happen to me once. You have to get it flashed @ a nokia service centre

The same happened some times with my ngage and my 3660. Simply remove the memory card and try to boot. If you have success restore the factory settings (*#7370#; it will ask you the security code) and it should work again. BTW format the mmc also.

PS: Backup the content of mmc with a card reader if you want to transfer it to the phone again.
By restoring the factory setting by this way you'll lose every information on the phone memory: Contacts, messages, ringing tones, videos, pictures, calandar entries...

Try to load in safe mode first (buttons turn on+abc) and delete conflicting soft. Helps in 80% of cases.

ive tried to load in safe mode and everything. nothing worked. i even took it to the nokia service center and they would not flash it for me. what do i do? should i ask to speak with one of the servcie techs about the problem. stupid tmobile doesnt carry the phone anymore, and i will call nokia to see what they can do for me. grrr this sucks!

Soft reset and hard reset also doesnt help? So, its really sucks :/

please email me if you got your phone fixed... i have the same problem at the moment.
