Dazler 24-11-2002, 11:54 PM If they are free, why not? :) jcsickz 30-11-2002, 03:05 AM lets see em! Nosferatu 30-11-2002, 05:10 AM 8) Bring it on... n9k 30-11-2002, 02:29 PM Thanks in advance for the contributions ;) I'm waiting... TheSpecialBoy 30-11-2002, 10:58 PM For those who still ask me: ebooks are written works (novels, history, si-fi, textbooks, etc) that can be read using a pocketpc, pc or pda... 92xx, very, very convenient, not to mention much lighter to lug around. I want to share, but I find myself very bussy untl next year or so. I decided to give you my free e-books links. Trusted sites, AAS OK ;) N-JOY Mark Twayn and other classics. http://esspc-ebooks.com/ http://mslit.com/default.asp?mjr=FRE http://www.blackmask.com/page.php http://www.memoware.com/ Project Gutenberg http://promo.net/pg/ My Favourite source n9k 01-12-2002, 03:47 AM Thank you specialBoy! LAuRA 03-12-2002, 08:25 AM What would be your choice in e-book reader software for 9210? Given the memory and disk space limits. Carrying dictionaries, grammar, fiction etc everywhere seems like a great idea but perhaps I should first buy a bigger memory card... :o TheSpecialBoy 03-12-2002, 08:37 AM I have 2 MMC. One Original one 16Mb, wich I use for fun, games, movies and so on. The 64 Mb i use it for business applications, mails and so on. This was my solution for e-books also. Wonder how i deal with 16 Mb. Truth is that I have also a MMC Card reader, and I just Copy/paste contents and here I go. But this happends 2,3 times / month  Time issues here ;) LAuRA 03-12-2002, 09:10 AM Yeah, I know about the time issues  Barely time to read the forums... ;) I still use the original 16 MB MMC and that's why I'm cautious about anything using disk space. But then again, if I have 9210, why not use the whole potential, right? Ok so next time I'm at a computer store, I will grab a card reader and a bigger memory card. I remember reading a thread on AAS about memory cards and card readers, I will have to look them up. There was some discussion about which are compatible and good and cheap and so on. A girl can't go wrong with AAS! TheSpecialBoy 03-12-2002, 02:18 PM A girl can't go wrong with AAS! Nice Words, But I might Complete, NOBODY can....? Pls? Symbian 20-12-2002, 05:55 PM Hi Guys. I download some e-books with the file extention lit, and I don't know which reader to use to open those files. Any one can tell me if there is a software (preferably free) for this file extention. thank you. TheSpecialBoy 20-12-2002, 07:59 PM Supported Formats The most popular Palm DOC (Aportis) format of electronic books. Plain text (TXT) format. HTML (no graphics, text only) format. rossar 14-03-2003, 02:55 PM Does anyone know where i can get decent e-books?I don't mind paying for them. LAuRA 15-03-2003, 07:14 PM Depends entirely on what kind of books you want. The links in the beginning of this thread are valid, but then there are places like http://www.mobipocket.com/en/HomePage/default.asp and others i guess too. Do you want fiction or non-fiction? News or novels? Scifi or romance? :) aj96 19-03-2003, 02:55 PM Hi Guys. I download some e-books with the file extention lit, and I don't know which reader to use to open those files. Any one can tell me if there is a software (preferably free) for this file extention. thank you. microsoft reader aj96 19-03-2003, 03:02 PM what are the supported formats for mobipocket reader? btw... mobipocket reader for 9210 is free... also for the 7650, but then again battery issues, bcoz of this reader im having problem with my phone's battery... much more with the 7650... dnt be offended 7650 owners, i have a 7650 also, with three batteries... hehehe :D LAuRA 19-03-2003, 04:28 PM The extension seems to be .prc but this does not really tell anything, I guess. Mobipocket FAQ states that "The Mobipocket Reader reads only the standard DOC type of .pdb files" and mentions a name AportisDoc. I don't really know what it means... There is a lenghty explanation on the document file formats in http://www.memoware.com/mw.cgi/?screen=help_format It does seem a bit confusing... hopefully there will be more compatibility in the future. :o aj96 21-03-2003, 08:42 AM tried mobipocket reader for 9210, it can open .prc files and .txt files... i'm not sure with other extensions though... is there microsoft reader for 9210? mobipocket 21-03-2003, 09:18 AM Mobipocket Reader can read : - eBooks/eNews/eDocs in Mobipocket format - Palm Standard DOC files (not M$ DOC !) usually with PDB extension* - native text and HTML documents. * As you know, PDB is not a format, but just a container like ZIP to transfer files on the Palm. You can download it from there (http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/DownLoadReaderStep1.asp) Tomahawk 07-04-2003, 11:50 AM I have been using mobipocket reader extensively for about 6 months now. It works pretty well. The main problem I find with ebooks is that there are a lot of formats around and you can't always get a book in a format suitable for the 9210. This is particularly true for the secure formats - secure mobipocket format seems to be only 3rd choice for the ebook publishers. mobipocket 11-04-2003, 05:22 PM The main problem I find with ebooks is that there are a lot of formats around and you can't always get a book in a format suitable for the 9210. No, it's the first choice, because they publish 1 file, it works on all devices. Other eBook format do not have this option. aj96 11-04-2003, 09:32 PM I highly recommend mobipocket reader. I use mobipocket for my PC and my phone. Its good to have the same application on your PC and phone. 8) |
