firegarden 28-06-2006, 02:59 AM Anybody has a problem installing the PC suite for M600i? The installation stops halfway and shows a message saying the software is only for Win2K and WinXP when I am already on WinXP. Tried it on several PCs already. Same result. Any remedy for this? Other than that I have got low battery alert twice then the battery was more that half full, the phone shut down after that.
Hope Sony Ericsson comes up with a new firmware soon. It's still a great phone tho :)
isaldanha 30-06-2006, 08:17 AM Need help on just one issue is there some software available to enable voice dialling on the M600i the phone looks great viz-a-viz the E-61 from Nokia
I have a typical requirement where I work in areas where a camera is an absolute No No ---Ive yet to decide between the two while the Sony looks FAB the Nokia has all the functions, hence any assistance would be most welcome
josse 04-07-2006, 05:57 PM These are my problems with the M600i, looks like the software in this phone went pretty fast trough beta-testing:
1. Syncing email with Outlook 2000 - case probably solved, must upgrade to outlook 2000 service pack 3
2. Phone starts vibrating erraticly when I open the clock dialog, I have to turn off the phone to make it stop.
3. Frequent SIM failiure, this might be a busted sim, but I didn't have any trouble with this sim in my P910.
4. Phone crashes often.
5. poor signal.
I have talked to sonyericsson support in Norway, but they are clueless. And I have the latest firmware.
At this point the phone is crap, but I hope they will fix this in the next firmware update, untill then, my good olī P910 will still be my companion.
jorgenr 04-07-2006, 07:32 PM These are my problems with the M600i, looks like the software in this phone went pretty fast trough beta-testing:
4. Phone crashes often.
5. poor signal.
I second the two problems above. But my crashes are related to the browser, when you aim Opera at a certain page, it crashes with out of memory or kern_exec messages, and the filesystem seems to be corrupted afterwards. Backup/restore solves the problem though.
The link that fails every time is (do not try this at home!):
www2.geoweb.no(slash)stilistisk(slash)stilistisk.j sp
Otherwise I think it is very nice compared to the bulky 910.
jorgenr:
You should report the links that crashes opera to Opera software directly. You can post a message here:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=75
That way opera software will be able to iron out the crashers in an later update.
jorgenr 06-07-2006, 04:49 PM Done. I submitted a bug report form earlier too, but this may be a better place.

completefone 20-07-2006, 02:12 PM Well got the m600i and am very impressed with it apart from the following lol
1. handset sometimes wont turn off with button have to remove battery
2. blackberry sw will just suddenly stop receiving mail, have to reboot phone to get it going again
unfortunately i cant update the firmware cos ericsson in their wisdom have made their bb sw incompatible with the latest firmware
doc_chikito 22-07-2006, 05:30 AM i haven't updated my firmware to the latest, im still running on r1b... and i jsut wanna ask you guys if you have experienced this bugs...
1. when receiving jpeg file thru BT or MMS, 6 out of 10 don't display the image.
2. when playing 3GP files thru Video Player, the video is smooth but the audio track is distorted (chipmunk-like)
other than those two, i haven't experienced any other bug on R1B...
thanks!
What a phone:frown:
The m600i has been a pain in the butt since day one. How many of us have the same problems with the battery being full but the low battery warning shutting down the handset, constant crashes and trying to set it up on vodafone is impossible, after 2 hours of calls they still can't help me:o .
Has anyone tried the nokia e61 as this one is going back!!!!!
funkyshaker 23-07-2006, 09:33 AM Christ - where did you get your phone from?
I got my from the SE UK online store and it has worked flawlessly from day one.
None of the problems mentioned in this forum at all. I suggest you speak to your retailer as mine is perfect - sounds like you have a dud!
tigernet 23-07-2006, 02:11 PM I agree...I am loving mine!!!
Try updating th firmware by following the instruction on the sony ericsson website. I have few of those problems before and it all dissapear after upgrading. :icon14: If you have problems, it might be that your firmware was not up to date when you purchase the phone... Some of the newer handset might not have those problems...
rajeshdave 01-08-2006, 10:10 AM I recently purchased a SE m600i, and i must admit that this a biggest mistake I did, I did not expect that Sony Ericsson can make such a faulty phone, this phone restarts on its own about 10 times a day and also it restarts when you are talking over the phone, also it is slow as ever, it can take a while to move from screen to screen, the latest os is very lousy.

I did not see any update for m600i on the sony ericsson website, can you send a link if you have found one
funkyshaker 02-08-2006, 05:25 PM YOU ARE RIGHT THIS IS USE LESS PHONE
What a daft statement!
It is far from being a useless phone but you need to upgrade the firmware.
steve36 06-08-2006, 11:14 AM I agree it's actually very stable, ok a few faults with 'CONTACTS' not working from MS outlook, but other than that no real problems.
Mines a clean SE one and I immediately clicked on the 'Update Service - Phones' icon that appeared on my Windows desktop and it's been good since. Make sure your batter is fully charged before doing this though, if thats possible.
Actually you may have a problem with mucked around with phones, ie branded ones as you will have to load specific firmware with Vodaphone pointless messing around on. That firmware might not be available yet.
Steve36.. you say that vodacrap brand the phone ... i'm thinking about getting one, i guess i shouldn't get it throught vodacrap then?
steve36 06-08-2006, 11:43 AM I read a few complaints about Vodafones messing around and with the history of UIQ 3.0's delays I thought it would be safer to get an unbranded one so that any firmware fixes would be available immediately.
Part of the reason I did this was my 'old' N70 had some severe problems with bluetooth and I had to wait many months for a T mobile firmware release.
If you can wait a few months then you could buy from vodafone with hopefully stable firmware. I do not know what they do to the phones, last time I was with voda they had not started messng around.
I bought mine from an ebay seller to get my new toy quickly and so far have had only minor irritations. It's actually more stable that my N70 was, so far....
sanjeevj 25-08-2006, 04:25 PM M600i mobile phone has three preset alarm settings and user can also set a new alarm. I set an alarm for 6 am in the morning with a message "Wake up". The alarm was set for week days. The alarm goes of correctly every day but now I can not see it in the list of alarms set. It shows only three alarms (that are available as preset alarms). I want to change or delete the new (additional) alarm set by me. How can I access this fourth alarm setting? :con?
the joshua tree 04-10-2006, 06:19 PM problems seen but not often
alarm goes bonkers - it keeps coming on & beeping even if i say "done"
phone hangs if i try to activate voice recording during a call.
system slows down if i dont restart once in 3 or 4 days
dmz1970 01-11-2006, 03:39 AM I have had the M600i for 1 week.
It worked flawlessly until it crashed mid-use a few days ago. (i thought it was a great phone for the time that it worked) I hard reset the phone, by formating the C drive, but the problem occured regularly from then on.
I was unable to get the phone to boot up past the Phone On / Flight mode selection screen.
Vodafone Aust, to their credit, sent me a replacement within 24 hours of reporting the problem, yet the second phone suffered from the same problem within three hours!
I am now waiting on my third unit (Vodafonesare looking after their customer here) but I am certainly not interested in troubleshooting or wasting time on getting it to work or losing personal data...
IS this a vodafone issue in their branding / UIQ interaction or just bad luck??
Manchoa 20-11-2006, 04:57 AM Got my M600i a week ago.
When I turned it on, the first thing I got was an error message "memory corrupt d:"
In the store they thought it might be broken memorycard and so I bought new one (512 mb) Still the same problem. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Often not.
If the card works, it just suddenly dissapears or does not let to copy or do anything on the card. So the problem is in the phone, not card. Phone should be up-to-date because with the SE Update Service software it does not find anything to install.
Any ideas ?

Manchoa, this may seem like an obvious thing to suggest, but are you absolutely sure the card is inserted properly? I had similar problems with mine at first - I put the card in and it would appear in the file manager, but then disappear. It seemed to be firmly in the slot, but it was only intermittently available to the phone. As it turned out the card wasn't properly in at all - you really have to get a fingernail or something similar to push it in quite deep before it catches physically inside the phone, and then it should be reliable.

So I decide to put a nice picture of my son as my wall paper. I transfered the picutre to the phone. I select it and then accept it as the wall paper... and then the bloody thing shuts down.
Now I can not boot it. It gets as far as asking me for my SIM PIN and then resets itself. I do remember that some pictures I uploaded in the past could not be viewed. An exception was thrown and the picture viewer was shutdown. I am willing to bet that if I try and view the new wall paper picture using the viewer then such an error will also be raised. However no error appeared when I selected the picture to use as wall paper.
I have read up on the subject and it looks to me as if the phone does not have a true 'safe mode' (like windows)... I mean a Safe mode, not a Flight mode. Is that true... is there no true safe mode?
Can anyone tell me... is that it? New phone? Arrrrrgh!!!
fyrestrtr 29-04-2007, 08:26 AM Wow, what different experiences. I had a M600i for about two months; and didn't experience any of this. Here are my suggestions:
1. Get an unbranded phone, branded phones have all kinds of problems (true for all makes/models -- not just SE)
2. Make sure you are running the latest firmware. Not all regions get the same firmware at the same time. So if you are running World Generic 1 or 2, you might have newer software than someone running the Asian version of the phone. This is important because a lot of these problems are software based.
3. There are a lot of 'fake' memory cards which can cause all kinds of problems on your device. I had one user with a N73 with a 'fake' 2 GB memory card, that when full -- would crash the media player on the device. We replaced the memory card with a SanDisk one, and the problem dissapeared. There is a reason why genuine accessories are expensive, and all phone manufacturers recommend you purchase from reputable stores :)
dorris 05-05-2007, 11:43 AM Just had my M600i delivered today. Put the simcard in, charged it and turned it on. Managed to get to the time and date part of the setup.. then nothing :con? The screen started flickering and fading to white.. now the screen doesnt come on at all. Has anyone else had this sort of problem? Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers,
Jonathyn
beeg26 17-09-2007, 08:06 AM Hi All,
Just want to share my M600i experience which had been a headache for me due to frequent out of memory problem and hanging. The only way I can put it back on is to remove the battery (of course sliding the back cover first then the battery) and put back again (one way to reset it).
I almost gave up on this phone(almost end up selling it) until i woke up this morning checking my phone then discovered how foolish I am not to notice the use of the TASK MANAGER option in this phone.
How to avoid having an out of memory problem?
easy as:
1. Open TASK MANAGER
2. Choose the Open Tab
3. Close(end) all applications shown in this tab.
You can also try leaving some of the apps opened, but to make sure and not to give you problems just end those apps from time to time. Specially the Media Player. (Please observe further more and try to experiment more on this option).
Now, I dont need to turn it off. Worry free and no need to sell it :)
I'm back to business :) :icon14:
Hope this helps!:)
