View Full Version : N73 3G blue flashing light
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 07:11 PM Ok i got my replacement N73 from virgin thru yesterday and i updated the version, iv noticed that the phone i used to have had a wee blue light that flashed on and off until i activated the phone,
Iv left my new one for ages and the blue light hasnt come on flashing? any ideas what this is and why it isnt flashing anymore?
I thought i might have to send the 3G settings to my phone again on virgin.
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 08:15 PM anyone have this on there phone ?
Dolph 15-11-2006, 08:21 PM I have, and I wish the light would stop flashing! Bloody annoying when it's on the table next to my bed.
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 08:40 PM do you know what it is and why its flashing dolph?
is it telling you that you you have 3G coverage?
John-Jack 15-11-2006, 08:48 PM I think it shows when the phone's in sleep mode, so you don't see the blank screen and think it's switched off!
Seriously! Finnish designers are weird like that
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 09:04 PM sleep mode .....well i never hahahaha
how do you activate "sleep mode" or de-activate it ?
thanks for replying jack :icon14:

saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 09:35 PM well i switched it on and waited about ten min, ...... nothing not even a wee bit of blue light lol
what happens when you switch yours off or on jack ??
is it really the sleep function or are yeh pulling my leg lol
John-Jack 15-11-2006, 09:38 PM On mine, Power saver time-out is set to 5 minutes, and Sleep mode is on... This make the blue light flash...
When i set power saver to 30 mins (the max) the blue light flashes after 30 mins
If sleep mode is off, the light doesn't flash at all...
Strange...
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 09:41 PM Ah john-jack i might have the answer, if you go to this site http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-n73-en.shtmland look down you will see a picture of the top of the phone and this is what it says as a description
The area atop the display features a forward-facing VGA-camera for video calls in 3G networks; however it may deliver photos of self as well. Right next to the that camera you will find a light sensor, automatically adjusting keypad backlighting brightness and turns it off in case the illumination level is sufficient, this sensor also houses a Bluetooth indicator lamp.
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 09:44 PM believe it or not john if you use the keypad it doesnt light up but if you put your finger over the senser the keypad lights up AMAZING !!! lol
John-Jack 15-11-2006, 09:46 PM Yee yee I know  lol
But it flashes with no bluetooth on, too...
Does on the N80 too which is weird, I'm suuuure it's a standby lamp :con?
Edit: Have you restarted the phone since finding the light not blinking?
saxo_appeal 15-11-2006, 09:59 PM why would it be to do with the bluetooth then? i dont have mine on hardly ever but it flashed before??
the mystery continues, im baffled to ehy more people havent commented on this blue flashing already ?
Dolph 15-11-2006, 10:14 PM Just sat watching TV....and waiting....
Phone went into 'sleep mode' (blank screen) and the light started flashing immediately.
At a guess, if your light isn't flashing at all, you've not got sleep mode activated.
Tools>Settings>Phone>Display>Sleep Mode
saxo_appeal 16-11-2006, 12:54 PM wahey little blue light is flashing now, al's well that ends well
