I want to use NSS to change vodafone phone to unbranded to enable latest firmware to be installed.

But have read about some who used NSS with a vodafone branded phone and it all went wrong in his words " went to restore my phone using PC suite, and now when I start the phone it says 'Phone start up failed. Contact Retailer.'

Has anbody else been succesful with unbranding a Vodafone, or does anyone know when they are to release the upgrade for there phones ???

I brought my N73 off vodaphone.. ( well contract ) it's unlocked so can use any sim..
I tried to update it... and it said No software update found... I have

You can, when there's a Vodafone branded updated version available.

The NSU, Nokia Software Update, will only offer new versions of Vodafone branded firmware for a phone that had Vodafone branded firmware when the phone left the factory where it was made. If there's no newer Vodafone branded version available, it will not offer anything.

Evan though the phone seams to be not locked to anyone .. so i can put in orange sim etc.. and they will all work .
there is no vodophone branding on the phone...
I only "brought " ( fro free ) from them...

Surely they caant be that sneaky!!!!!

Note: I have tried again .. change the product code etc.. and it still says no nw updates... this works for orange users .. so why not us!! .. :(
