Change your N73's product code to 0539343 and then use NSU to update your N73 to the Music Edition firmware.

There's a couple of new themes as well as the new Music App. to play with...

And it works very, very nicely indeed.

I've had this on my N73 for a few days. The music player is a definite improvement (although its not as good as the SE Walkman 2 player), the themes are nice.

Just need to get hold of a black cover and the ME keyboard now!

Have had my GPS unit, and HS820 headset connected, talking, giving me a route via TomTom, and no problems. Well good on yer, Nokia!

Is this exactly the same software but with an improved music player, i.e. nothing else lost?

Also, does this product code work with all network branded phones?

how is the music player better ?

stuclark
24-11-2006, 02:39 PM
Yes, this is exactly the same firmware as 3.0638.0.0.1 other than the new music player, two new themes, and various small changes. No bug fixes above the "standard" v3 firmware.

The music player is completely re-written. Gone are those stupid round buttons crawling up the left of the screen. Now you get to use the joystick to control play / pause / forward / backward & stop. You also now get album art in your albums and tracks.

Is there no way of changing the media key back to normal? I actually use it alot. Also is there any way of recording from the radio like on the n91? Can music tracks be changed by pressing the button on the headset? Lastly how do i change the code? Ok i think thats it. :-)

Change tracks? Nope. You have to buy the right headset for that (ie. HS20 - it has the play/pause, stop, ff, rewind controls. Also takes a standard 3.5mm headphone. I do kinda wish it worked like the SE volume control - hold down the key and you go to the next/prior track.

Radio recording? Nope. in fact, that feature seems to be getting removed slowly from other products that have previously supported it (ie. creative Zen)

Media key change? Nope. Then again, that darned shortcut button has a stupid animation that pops up, and it hardly makes things quicker.

Ok thanks. it's just that my last phone was a 3300 and I could record from radio as well as changing tracks on the headset. Oh well I suppose its not worth changing to ME as I seem to be the only one who actually likes the media key and old music player.

NSU only performs the update on the phone once it has fully downloaded the update from the Nokia site, therefore, during the update of the phone, it shouldn't make any difference if you have it connected or not or if it drops out. Just make sure your PC doesn't get turned off or shut down :)

Thanx I've done the NSU and mine is ME its good and yah and better than the previous + the Music Player is cool and it also has the spectrum animation and it comes with a Moby song and has a new theme also and the cam opens fast but there is presence of the blue thing.. still... but overall is better than the previous one...

well i delt with NSU but imnot sure abou this need some advice
well since the 7610 , i changed to sony ericson , but now im back to n73
hen i 1st got it it has the usual bugs we all know about , but 2 days ago i updated it using NSU so its now the latest firmware for n73
the question is , in the previous nokia models it caused the phone to die if it was flashed to a deferent or later firm ware version and it needed to be repaired using flash Boxs ( twister , jaf ..etc )
so now after i updated the n73 is it still possible to do the ME trick ?
my second questin can i use the code for the n73 ME for a specific area or just the ones included in this topic

thanks in advance

1. As far as I'm aware, you should be able to do the upgrade trick to ME without any problems.

2. It is best to locate the ME product code for your locality to ensure correct languages etc.

I updated successfully and all (the nokia blog has good detailed instructions) gives good instructions for every step, and all worked fine...
But when i restored my backup, the music button changed. instead of radio coming up when i hold it for a long time, my bookmarks come up. i really want the radio button, but i don't know how to change it? Before i restored the phone, the music button worked fine (with radio).
Thanks

Well, according to the list at the top of this forum, 0529780 is the Hungarian code, which might well contain the language you need. Based on that assumption, the Hungarian ME code is 0539289.

Hi,

I bought N73 recently and wanted to upgrade to ME. I have downloaded Namesis and installed it. But, this software is not recognizing my N73. Any ideas? My computer shows that the mobile is connected (Via USB). I have successfully connected my mobile using BlueTooth also. Still NSS is not detecting my phone. Can anybody help me?

Another problem is that, NSU is also not detecting my phone. When I start the application, it starts searching for a phone. That moment, I will get a message that, Nokia N73 has been disconnected from USB.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kiran.

is your USB cable connected to your PC via a hub ?

If so, try it on a direct connection and see if that helps.

When NSU detects the phone, PC Suite will show the phone as disconnected. This is quite normal.

I just bought myself N73. Its not ME. Can i ask, how to change the cover? I dont want to use original cover and i dont want the cover get dirty or spoil. I cant open the cover at all, just manage to open the behind cover.

After i buy the phone, i just install an application called mig33. This application are great, so i just want to share with you guys here as well.

Everyone must been heard or used mig33 application before, right? For those who haven’t tried out their services, you can do so by visiting to their website

You can get Instant Messenger, cheap calls, SMS and chat room from mig33 application through your mobile devices. But there are much more you can find out from this application because mig33 has made an unprecedented breakthrough for their new website and new features for the application.

Did you guy out there heard of Ajax Chat, Scrap Book, Picture Sharing, Picture Sharing and VOIP Toolbar? Yes, that is the new features that we can find out from the website and mig33 application. Surprisingly, we can use their services not only from our mobile device but as well as from your PC.

This application help me much on cheap calls because i always call to my friends in overseas and it help me to save alot.

Back to N73, how you guys think of this phone?

Change your N73's product code to 0539343 and then use NSU to update your N73 to the Music Edition firmware.

There's a couple of new themes as well as the new Music App. to play with...

it would be nice if the region was indicated along with the code. I cannot find 0539343 in the list I have.

Follow this guide but replace the codes and Internet Edition with Music Edition and its codes.

The Nokia N73 Internet Edition Firmware 3.0638.0.0.43 update is now available. The Nokia N73 Internet Edition was only announced in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but anyone with the N73 can change their firmware to take advantage of the new firmware's features by tricking Nokia Software Update. How is the Internet Edition different from the recently released Music Edition? Find out now as well as the instructions on how to update your Nokia N73 firmware.
Nokia N73 Internet Edition

The Nokia N73 Internet Edition contains all of the features of the Music Edition, but the multimedia key in the Music Edition goes straight to the music player. The Internet Edition retains the function of the original multimedia key where you can configure your own shortcuts to applications. They also included Windows Live Messenger and a few shortcuts to popular websites in the Internet folder. Otherwise, same as the Music Edition.

Nokia N73 Internet Edition Nokia N73 Internet Edition Nokia N73 Internet Edition

Updating to the Internet Edition is similar to the guide I wrote earlier on updating to Nokia N73 Music Edition.

Download and install: Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software Update.

1. Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
2. Open Nemesis Service Suite and click "Scan for new device" on the right-upper part of the window
3. Click on the icon "Phone info"
4. Click on "Scan"
5. Change the product code to 0539366 (Hong Kong's language pack: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese) or 0539364 (Taiwan's language pack: English + Traditional Chinese) and mark the case "Enable".
6. Press "Write", and your phone's product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don't worry, the product code changed !).
7. Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
8. Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
9. That's it! When you restart your phone, it should now be the Nokia N73 Internet Edition!

You may also want to change for black Nokia N73 faceplate housing to black to make it look more like the real Nokia N73 Internet or Music Edition. You can read more about how to change the Nokia N73 faceplate guide that I wrote previously.

No can do, I'm afraid. You can only go UP in firmware revisions, not down. You will have to wait for a newer version of the IE firmware with a version number higher than the formware you are running now.

That's if Nokia release an updated IE firmware at all.

why not update to the new N73 vanilla firmware? it has the same media player as the ME edition, the green ME theme can be found on the internet..and is a newer version than what ME has right now. read about it and see if it isn't simpler this way.

if you do want to upgrade to ME, search for a product code for ME (take care so that the product code is one for a product that has at least english language) and check on nokia web site to see if the firmware version for that Me product code is higher that what you have right now. (not lower, because it would be a downgrade...and from what i've read that could make your phone unusable)

i used the euro 1 as iam from uk it took about 12-15 mins and was fully updated

changing product code will void your warranty by the way :-) just a warning :-) i had to do it though lol hated my operator barnded n73 love my unbranded music edition

you can allways cahnge prduct code back to original this wont alter any thing once youve done the update but if you do need a repair then at least the phone will have the same product code as the one under the battery

Change your N73's product code to 0539343 and then use NSU to update your N73 to the Music Edition firmware.

There's a couple of new themes as well as the new Music App. to play with...
hi there, first of all thanks for the code. I have installed NSS, now when i search for usb device, (phone info) it does not display any phone info at all? So there is no number or any info the the phone info fields. But my phone is connected to the pc/pc suite. what could be the problem?

Start up PC Suite.
Connect phone to usb. (Select 'PC Suite')
Minimize PC Suite.
Start NSS.
Click on 'Scan for new devices'.
Click on 'Phone info'.
Click on 'Scan'.
You can then click on 'read' to find your present product code.
Put a tick in the 'enable' box opposite 'product code'
Enter your new producr code & click 'write'.
It only takes 2 seconds & its done.

Don't suppose any of you chaps can help me out. Downloaded Nemesis Service Suite V1.0.38.12 and the latest version of Nokia Software Updater in a vain attempt to convert my N73 to the music addition. Problem is NSS isn't doing anything, I press scan for new devices, the button goes grey for around 5 seconds turns back to a colour icon and then nowt, no phone info, no nothing?

Ive selected PCSuite on the handset, but still nothing. Strange thing is, the NSU will find the phone every-time :frown:

Any ideas?
