Can someone advise on how to switch off the service as in the dark i cannot see my keypad making the phone bother and when i dont need the light like durign the day it's there please help

AFAIK you can't switch it off. Weird though, in 6 months, i've never had any problems with this sensor. The keypad is always backlit whenever it too dark to read the key labels. Your phone might be faulty.

The backlight is one of the more annoying aspects of this phone. The E70 has a manual on/off switch which is great; why they didn't put one on this phone I have no idea, because often the light goes on when you don't want it, but won't go on when you do. The damn sensor has total control over when it decides that you need the backlight, which is irritating.

I use a little trick for this:

If you put your finger/thumb over the e-mail allert LED in the upper left corner of the phone, the sensor is blocked and the keypad light switches on, daylight or not....;)
