Hi folks

Two days ago I missed a call and the person left an answer phone message. The voice message icon was on , called up and listened to my message. Deleted message, and voice message icon hasnt gone away since !

The fone is an N73.

I have called answer fone up again and checked and I have no messages on it.

Does anybody know why it does this and how I can get rid of it? Have turned fone off and on a few times and its still there. GRR :mad:

This is a known problem, just use Nokia http://europe.nokia.com/A4176089 Software Update but BACK UP FIRST.

yeah a firmware update on Orange fixed this for me otherwise search for VMI on this forum and the Nokia discussions forum and there is a thread about how to fix this on a per instance basis if you can't/won't do a firmware update

HI, I also have this, on orange UK, I did a phone reset and it didn't go away. I changed product code and upgraded to the latest firmware and it didn't go away. Is this possibly because I backed up to the memory card? - if so I have tried a phone reset since and it still won't go away. Problem at orange's end?

I don't think this is always a firmware issue. I have certainly experienced this problem with previous handsets and had it cleared by Orange Customer Services.

I sometimes get the same problem but it's with the 'sending message' icon (little arrow pointing down into a tray). A firmware update in December didn't fix it. It eventually went one day when I was messing about with the themes. It's back again now and can't remember what it was that I did.

A firware update fixed this permanantly for me but this method will do the trick on a per message basis

Put my SIM in my work Nokia phone (on Vodafone)
Left myself a message
Listened to then deleted message
Put SIM back in N73 and no VMI

I updated to the latest firmware, and the icon is still there argh ! At least the fone runs faster now... it was getting really slow for some reason. Its much faster sending texts etc. now and switching between screens.

I called Orange up and they said it was a known issue, the guy I spoke to sent thru a sim update which he said might clear the message. It didn't.

So seems I'm stuck with it til a proper fix is released. Not very chuffed but I like the rest of the fone so I'll just have to put up with it :rolleyes:
