I note that on other threads asking "what bluetooth headphones?" there is very little response. People must listen or watch movies on trains and the like so I assume, with the lack of headphone sockets on most phones they use a bluetooth headset ?

I also assume that those with BT headsets and mics use those ? I don't mean the Star Trek ones but the over head bands. There are dedicated BT headphones only but they seem very expensive for what is a fairly "poor" quality audio output. Are the headset/mic combos the best way to go ?

I should point out that I can't wear the "in ear" units

E-series phones have Pop-Ports, into which you can plug in either a set of wired Nokia stereo headphones/headset, or an adaptor which allows the use of any generic 3.5mm-socket set of headphones.

Search around for options on these. They are well documented on the Nokia site and various forums.

Regarding wireless options, Bluetooth headsets can most often be used, but as far as I know E-series phones do not as yet support A2DP, so the output will be single-channel (mono). As you point out, audio quality is still limited even with A2DP.

You know ? I had no idea the "pop port" could be used as a headphone socket. I thought I read the manual from front to back...so thanks for that info.

Actually mono would be OK, even prefered, given the environment and equipment. The Beatles and The Beach Boys , to name two, issued their early albums in mono so people could hear the music as you would in a theatre. Especially on 3gp movies stereo would make limited difference I think.

Just ordered a pop-port to 3.5 mm headphone adaptor for £3.95...so problem solved and I can use my own headphones.
