Hi Everyone,
I used to own a Windows Mobile 5 phone earlier (before the E90) and apart from WIFi, 3G. GPRS i could connect it to my laptop using active Sync and use the laptop's internet connection (LAN or WiFi) to access the internet on the phone while it was connected using the USB cable to the laptop.
I heard something called the IP Passthrough did the same thing on earlier communicators. Is that available on the E90 or is there any other way to do that (use laptop's internet connection to access the internet on the E90). I have the E90 and loving it - just not able to figure this part out.
Problem is - i do not have a WiFi at office and do not wanna pay the huge $$$ for the GPRS access.
Help me figure it out please.
Thanks
I don't think there is passthrough, as the selection is only 'PC suite and Data Transfer'. The PC client of Passthrough has not been updated for a couple years now (since 9500 launched).
Just get a flat GPRS/Data charges if you work a lot, it worth every cents. It is also an ubiquiotous connection.

and there's no alternative to that?
Singapore isn't really one of the cheapest around...infact it's expensive as far as GPRS plans are concerned.
Looking forward to a work around....
Considering 9500 was the one just previous to this E90....i'd it hasn't been that long.
S$68 ~ 30 Euros for flat unlimited GPRS/3G is not something I would call expensive.... Especially comparing with pay-per-use that can max about S$300
If you're desperate, install a wireless card in your laptop or pc and run Intenret connection sharing. Share you network into that card so it'll function as an access point. Your phone can connect to the wlan card for its internet connection.
If you runs firewall, this will not work.

Over and above the monthly bill of around 100 $...another 68 is not expensive??? Why can't it be like India for eg that has plans like 100 Indian Rupees (with great service) . month for unlimited GPRS.
Well i guess if i had a WLAN connection around here i wouldn't need the sharing connection. I would staright use the WiFi on my phone.
But thanks any way guys.....

Problem is - i do not have a WiFi at office and do not wanna pay the huge $$$ for the GPRS access.
The decent Wi-Fi router now day priced around 40-60 USD.
You can buy it and forget about all your problems.
All you need is to disconnect network cable that is going to your
computer and re-connect it to one of the normal LAN ports of router
(for this case you should not use that separate Internet port on router).
Then you will need the one extra network cable to connect from router back to your computer. Also you may need to talk you you local network admin to let
your phone connect this network (MAC address permission).
You will need to adjust Wi-Fi router configuration too, Network Mask, SubNet and so on. Also you should turn off the DHCP server on Wi-Fi router because
you already have one in your work network, this way your router will work as a hub/switch.
... You could try other "free" solution with bluetooth and configuration/installation headache associated with that too.
Even ^If^ you will be able to get it work the result will be too slow to cover installation pain.
So at this point you will say: "Hell, I am ready to pay for Wi-Fi router
even if it cost $150 USD right now!" :)
Even more, this Wi-Fi solution will be faster then GPRS too!
