Hi,

I've read something about non-original 2.5 mm -> 3.5 mm adapters not being detected by the phone and thus making it impossible to use the radio. Is that correct?

If so, what is Nokia doing in their original adapter achieve this? The 2.5 mm plug on the adapter only has 3 leads (2 insulating rings), so it can't be anything related to the mic connection. are they using small capacitors?

It's called "ad-50" and is appearently bundled with some of the Nokia speakers.

i think, using a multimeter for 'continuity' test on both the headsets and comparing them will reveal the answer.

how to do a continuity test on a headset??:

ans. put one side of a headset (example: left) in the left ear, then 'roughly' touch the two probes sequentially on two connectors, until you hear 'crackle'. there can only be 6 combinations, won't take long.

the 'right' can be figured out after the left has been found.

do the same on the other headset and compare the results if they match.
