Guys can you give me an honest reply to this question... Does the keyboard even touch the screen? How does the keyboard scratch the internal screen?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Yes, the keyboard touches the screen. I got my E90 on Monday and I can now see the marks that correspond to the keyboard. They do clean off at present but I'm hoping the purchase of a good screen protector will prevent permanent scratches.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hmmm if you put a screen protector it means you are making the screen a little thicker meaning the keyboard will touch it even more... Don't you think this will do more harm?

Just wondering... :D

Hi,

Well, the keys will touch the screen protector and rub against it and thus protect the screen. I expect to replace the screen protector every few weeks.

That's my opinion, for what its worth ...

Kind regards,

Mark

ive found on mine that if you close the screen to the 'right angle click' position, then close the cover fully (with the satisfying close noise), it doesnt touch as badly.

if you just close the cover, the screen can actually creep about 2mm forward and backward before locking in its propper 'clicked' position on the hinges...

mine isnt scratching, its more finger print oil that gets stuck on the screen, but yes, it is annoying...

and whilst im whinging, why didnt they put a speak on each side of the device for proper stereo effect!

So does this mean that if we just close the E90 carefully, the internal screen wont be scratched?

i see some shadows and dirt left by keyboard.
So i will say yesl

Looking at my entire communivator collection, they all have scratches on internal lcd.

lucky me, i have found some protteective foil for my psp.

If you measure well with a paper an then cut protective foil fits like it is genuine.
You need to cut 1 cm widw and 0.5 tall
Now i'm happy with the result.

Is better to prevent than to repair...

if you check ebay you can found E90 screenshape foils for cheap money.
but offcourse, its an expensive phone, a micro sd, foils, contract, ... it sums up fast

There are rumors that the newer models have wider space so as not to touch the keyboard. Is this true? If it is, what date is this product manufactured or what product code does it have?

I have seen it with my own eyes! There is a new case design for the E90!

The main difference??? They just changed the baseline and made it a bit higher by placing a curve like design... Too bad the keyboard still touches the screen but the marks are no longer permanent and easily wiped off.

Here is a picture I hope it helps!

Im just not so sure if they are making a 3rd revision... I "heard" they are making the hinges a bit higher to completely avoid screen contact... I really hope so... :D

This is all very strange, as I've got a late proto and no hinge/screen/keymark problems at all.... What a delicate business high-tolerance manufacturing is!

Hmmm what about creaking sounds near the camera lens or the IR port? Do you have those?

I have been using mine since end of July and no sign of any marks on the screen yet (apart from fingerprints:) ). Looking closely, I don't think that the keys can touch the screen on mine.

I have had a Nokia E90 for a few weeks (with the curved case) the keys did not touch the screen until I used a screen protector and a Noreve case. Now the first 2 rows of keys leave small contact marks on the screen protector which easily wipe off. The Noreve case seems too tight when you close it. I have also tried the CarryMobile/Pdair case and it doesn't fit at all! Anyone had any more luck with cases?

I have a E90 since the end of July, with heavy use and there are no marks at all.

Are you people having violent acts with your E90?

Would please explain to me what a curved baseline looks like compared to a flat one. Mine has a raised profile starting from above the camera button to above the voice key. Yes mine also vibrates.
Than you

hmmm,

OK I have the curved style E90 and after about 2 months I have JUST noticed the first keyboard marks on the screen. Very mild however. I dont know why they suddenly appeared (perhaps I shut the lid too violently!)

Anyway, not too bothered about it as they wipe off *but* I was curious if anyone has suffered any actual damage from this phenomenon - i.e. screen being pushed in/being loosened/cracked etc? :con?

how many revisions of the E90 are there?

I thought 2 (one with flat profile and one with slightly curved as per the pictures in this thread)... does anyone know for sure if there is a 3rd revision?

There seems to be two versions of the E90, the model E90 (type RA-7) and the model E90-1 (type RA-6) (thats from under the battery)
I have a E90-1, which looks like the curved one in the pic on page 1, and the keys don't touch the screen, as long as you get decent clicks from the case as you close it (not properly closing it did leave some marks from the keyboard, but they just wiped off.

There is a third revision

Here is a link

That does say anything about there being a third revision, just that since release they have fixed the micorphone and modded the keyboard. If you read that article as there is a third revision, the article implies the modded keyboard is the third revision.

I have curved version and keyboard still spots some dots on the screen, which are cleaned easily, these dots are mostly a fat from fingers I think

Back to what I said before:

"Are you people having violent acts with your E90?"

Nokia should give us all (owners of E90) new devices without scratches, better GPS receivers, new rubber feet, better keyboard and all the other complains people are talking about...

However we had the best phone available in the market!!!

I *mostly* agree :-) My only remaining gripe really is the creaky side panel that covers the antenna. Why this part sucks when the rest feels solid I dont know! grrrrr
