View Full Version : Broken charger pin in my phone Highwindace56 20-11-2007, 05:18 AM the charger pin broke in my phone is there a way to get it out?? psychofart 20-11-2007, 09:03 AM what phone? and what exactly happened? Highwindace56 21-11-2007, 04:25 PM nokia n73 the pin just broke off and got stuck  psychofart 21-11-2007, 10:06 PM if its broken and stuck in the charging socket on the phone then there's not much u can do. even if u can pull it out, u're phone charging system is stuffed anyway. better take it to nokia dealer and get it fixed IF under warranty. if out of warranty and u wanna take risk with the phone, then u can try replacing the socket. get a friend who knows how to do 'surface-mount' soldering. if it is just 'pushed-in' then u can try pulling out and re-solder the base. if its stuck in the charger jack, and u cannott pull it out, then it might be easier to get another charger/jack. n73 works on 5v, which is the common supply for most devices now a days, and 5v also can be found on USB ports too. but the 'lost-pin' issue remains for the phone. Highwindace56 21-11-2007, 10:49 PM thx for the help smssms 02-12-2007, 04:12 PM Have a look on Youtube or similar and there are Nokia video tutorials on how to take a N73 apart. It shown the power connector as being a 'slot-in' part that is easy to remove (just need a T6 screwdriver and some bits of old credit card). The hard part will be finding a new power connector... Highwindace56 07-12-2007, 12:50 PM ok thx for the advice. Is there another way to charge the phone like through the headphone jack? psychofart 07-12-2007, 09:07 PM u mean the 'POP' port which nokia calls them. unfortunately it does not have that option, actually it 'drains' the phone while connected to usb, unlike motorola v3 which can be charged through usb. smssms 13-01-2008, 03:47 PM If you still need a charger socket for your N73, I have one spare now. You only need a Torx 6 screwdriver to fit it, no soldering. TymmyD 08-03-2008, 10:41 PM hi smssms, where did you manage to get the socket from? i'm in need for my n95 which i beleive is the same one.
