View Full Version : 19th Century Software Companies

I recently tried to acquire NBackgammon from Breadbox only to be told that it is only available by post on a floppy disk. the reasons they gave were

"hello...

Sorry, but we stopped offering our software via downloading due to problems
users had with their Communicators (and computers) crashing, being updated,
etc. We found it is much better to provide our customers with a hard-copy of
our software on diskette so they have a reliable backup. In most instances,
we had to send a diskette anyway.

We ship via Priority Mail, Global Priority Mail or Air Mail, depending on the
country we're shipping to. The product is usually received in less than 1
week, sometimes only a few days.

hope that helps,

Frank"

None of the above issues are improved by delivery via post!!

Are these the same people who released the long awaited Pocket Vault for the 9110 after the launch of the 9210?

Someone ought to advise them that many laptops have the floppy as an extra peripheral nowadays and most software houses enable electronic delivery of their products.

Sorry

Forgot to mention that they appear to charge $7 for delivery of the floppy disk.

Cheers

Hey,

This is indeed a bit out of date, i guess. Maybe it's a pigeon who delivers the floppy, who knows /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

This sounds like a bunch of crap, how can getting a file down from the internet to your local computer then saving it to a floppy yourself have anything todo with the 9210.

maybe they cant control who down loads it and ware they are afraid of.

I think they should of done a better job with the graphics it looks a bit C64 for me. How about some nice ray traced counters bring it up to present computer standards.

Seems very strange with all those authors at handango managing exactly the same thing (ESD) with out any problems.. I dont think their product will be wildly sucessful if they take this attitude.
