I would like to install some softwares my old phone#6600 but thease softwares will work on symbian OS 7 or 8. So I went and purcahed a brand new N72 one week back. when i checked the OS on the N72 by pressing *#0000# it showing v 5.0741.4.0.1, date: 8-10-07, RM 180.

When i saw on the net for N72 Symbian OS it shown as 8.1. I badly need the symbian OS 7 or 8. Could you please suggest how I can go and where I can find this latest symbian OS 7/8

Newer Symbian or S60 versions for the old 6600 are not available.

It was created based on Symbian 7.0s and S60 2.0 (S60 2nd Edition, original version, no "feature packs"), and there is no way to upgrade it to anything newer.

If you want to run applications that require newer versions of Symbian/S60, I'm afraid you need to get a newer device.
