I've got a mayor problem, the small cable [I believe it is called a flat-cable] from the mainboard to the LCD screen is broken. [I did it myself, I know, stupid move]

Nokia won't repair it because I did it myself, and they didn't know who could repair it.

So I have 2 options: Trashcan or repair it myself. I prefer the second.

Does anyone know where I can buy that cable? Please help me out!

If you just broke the wires you should be able to reconnect them with a soldering-bolt. It that's hopeless ... use the connectors and a ide cable or something to recreate it ...

Well, I don't know when it's completely hopeless, but of the 10 wires there are 6 broken. I can try to solder them together but I haven't used a soldering bolt in 7 years... It's not the situation that's hopeless, It's the owner... :oops:

But I don't know what a new flatcable costs, so my first solution was to go and look for a new one... If I can't affort it I can always try to fix it myself.

I tried it twice, but they refused.

I also asked if I could buy the flatcable but they said only their own repair-shop can get flatcables...

So I guess my only option is to go and buy a slodering bolt, but I'll probably end up frying the hole cable... :(

on the main chip there are some iron clips, probably to hold it in place... while is trying to remove the flatcable it got between the clip and the chip and the clip went right throuh.

I've included a picture of the situation as it was at the time...

I called EMTS like you guys advised, and what do I get? some smart-ass telling me they don't have spare parts! :evil:

And when I explain the problem they advice me to go and look for a used phone on the internet because they can't fix this!

I got them over the phone today.

The cable band costs 50 Eur and the instalation is 10 Eur.

They got it on stock.

Oops, almost forgot, is it a complete cable? there should be one or two chips on it...

Just pay £150 to Nokia for a new cover and they'll replace that little wire, its better than spending £600! :o
