is it possible to convert 3gp to avi file? what program? it would be nice to watch these video's with windows mediaplayer..

As far as I know you can only play them with the nokia media player which will also view wmb and amr audio files

Doesn't it automatically convert it when you transfer between PHONE and PC? I know sending an AVI automatically converts it to .3GP

Nope it doesn't convert. Maybe that is why Nokia released a free Multimedia player for PC

i want to convert 3gp to avi because if i send the video by email to my friend he has to install nokia multimedia player! it would be much easier if he could just use windows mediaplayer..

Yep.. its much better if we can view 3gp using windows media player and it will not be a trouble for our friends to download additional 3rd party player but WMP cant simply play it :(

Anyone work out how to do this yet? It's bizarre that I can't convert the little images for use in other applications, for example if I wanted to embed them in a shockwave program or something.

(I have already tried searching and cannot see it)

I have the phillips player - but when I play a *.3gp file I can hear the sound but can see no picture.

I know this is a very cheap hack, but you can use a screen grabber program like Hypersnap, select the region you want to capture, and then you can capture it as a movie...it's some time ago that i worked with this program, but i think it's possible

I want to convert .3gp to somthing. I can transform to somthing as well. I can transfer pics and video via Bluetooh to my iPAQ and then to my laptop but carnt play the video :(. plz someone make a solution to this :)

You need someone to build them for Windows (or whatever platfotm you use). Anyone?

of grabbing nokia multimedia player images during the play
and create nomal uncompressed avi file.

(can be used wherever you want in the screen)

It's a first simple simple beta software, I've used bruteforce image
clipping to create the avi, but results are good..

Well, hope you'll enjoy this file..
I'am preparing another advanced version to choose the
codec ,etc...

I tried using MPlayer, with appropraitely modifying codec.conf as mentioned above, but I continue to get error which is as follows

Playing abc.3gp
MOV: FIle-Type unknown Major-Brand: 3gp4
MOV: missing header (moov/cmov) chunk! Maybe broken file ....
Falling back on trying to parse playlist abc.3gp...
Sorry this file format is not recognized/supported

i've been having problems converting .3gp to .avi using your software 3gptoavi 2.0. i keep getting an error after it says "working..."

Convert 3gp to avi with QuickTime

Download QuickTime Pro at http://www.apple.com.
If you have older version of Quicktime player or still have problems with playing 3gp files then just download and install Quicktime Alternative.

1) Open your .3gp movies in QuickTime Player.
2) Press File -> Export...
3) Enter filename.
4) Choose type of output file (Export: Movie to AVI (.AVI), Movie to DV Stream (.DV) or Movie to Quicktime Movie (.MOV)).
5) For AVI: press Options -> Video Settings -> choose DV - PAL (for better quality of re-compression).
6) Click Save! That's all.
