Wow

Wow, nice job! As soon as I switched from "when available" to "when needed" and shut all the apps, it started working for me too.

(I still say its a Nokia firmware screwup, though.)

I've tried that string, and about a hundred others, and none of them seem to work on the palm. All of them work great when entered from the PC via a bluetooth serial connection, though. The number...

no, not all of it...

My BT headset battery runs down after about four hours.

I will start to get a low battery warning about 14 hours later.

I agree that BT is not the sole culprit. The other culprit is GPRS set...

Maybe

its partially a freespeak issue, then.

Ideally, the bluetooth "dot" shouldn't have brackets around it unless you're actually making a call. The brackets indicate an active bluetooth connection,...

Yeah

I don't think its the implementation of BT, but rather the implementation of handsfree support.

But, certainly once there is a connection, neither my freespeak nor the 6600 will terminate it...

Re: Anyone write an app?

I have the suspicion that this outrageously poor design choice is a "feature."

The BT handsfree implementation on the 6600 is just terrible. It tries to always maintain the bt connection,...

Does it work with MMS as well?

How exactly did you set the animated gif to be your screensaver? I thought hte tools weren't available yet?

And did it actually animate?

screensaver

Will they work as screen savers, like they did on my old t68i? I had a great LOTR animated GIF screensaver I was hoping to port over once tools for the 6600 became available.

see them in anything else? Like when creating a modem?

Maybe...

Instead of a disclaimer, you could just not offer a product aimed at the spam-and-harassment market?

Just an idea.

Interesting program

Falsifying the origin of an eletronic message can be a crime under American law.

It half-does

If it was built after May, 2003, it does. They upgraded the firmware then to support the handsfree bluetooth profile. Call Jabra, they'll tell you based on the serial number.

6600 As Modem for Palm

Has anyone gotten the 6600 to act as a GPRS modem for a palm pilot (any kind), through infared or bluetooth? At all?

My computer seems to have no problem doing it, but no-way with the palm...

I was hoping to get English and Russian on one phone. Is there a firmware that does this?

I know my local service centers do have it yet, but maybe I could download it from somewhere and bring it...

Well, sort of...

There's a program called Extended Profiles Pro that adds auto-keylock to s60 phones. Works well on a 6600.

More tmobile...

No variant on wap.myvoicestream.com is going to work, because tmobile so far only supports wap 1.1, not 2.0. There's a whole thread about this on howardforums.com.

The Tmobile e-mail thing only...

Same here

Mine was bought in the U.S., but appears to be an Asian phone - it has the English, Indonesian and Malay languages. (I hope its not too hard to get it flashed for English/Russian in a few weeks once...

Well...

I think tmobile is a little less compatible than that. For one thing, you can't get to hotmail. This is because you can't use the tzones hotmail access, and both the built in browser and Opera get...

How do you check?

And while I'm at it, do people know any other codes that work on the 6600?

That's funny...

I can sent email (smtp) but not receive (imap or pop).

Its very odd, because neither of those requires WAP, just TCP/IP, and I can't figure out why one would work but not the other.

wait a sec...

A proxy server is required for connectivity on the 6600? Really?

Can I just use a public proxy server, the way I used to be able to use a public WAP gateway?

That also does not, by the way,...

GPRS is working on the 6600 in very few places, since few providers have not yet upgraded their networks to support it, supposedly.

(Personally, I can't figure out what any network would have to...

Pagemaker: You post said that TDK said that...

Pagemaker:

You post said that TDK said that if you can see the virtual ports, their software is working.

Your earlier post said that you could not see the virtual ports.

See the problem?

pagemakers' bt problem

I hate to defend PC Suite (which is a real piece of crud), but if you're not seeing any ports at all, I don't think that has anything to do with nokia. It sounds like you need to configure your TDK...
