Well said, "unregistered."

I was a Symbian/EPOC32 user since my first Psion 5 when it was just released (wish someone would make a redux of it with top-end specs!), but two months ago switched to Android (MyTouch 3G Slide). I...

Farewell Nokia, at least for now

Well, it's refreshing to see Nokia trying to put a new guru in place who seems to understand the challenges Nokia faces in the rapidly changing and accelerated smartphone market. I wish them every...

Agree about Ovi name in US

I agree with the posts about the Ovi brand name in the U.S. It's simply not widely known and likely never will be. Ovi may mean "door" in Finnish, but the word will never register with average...

Great comments about Nokia/Symbian

I happened into a T-Mobile store two days ago and got to see the soon-to-be-released MyTouch 3G Slide by HTC and using the Sense UI over Android 2.1. I have long been a Psion/Symbian/Nokia fan but...

I agree with you, Shiner

I think the Vivaz is perhaps the nicest smartphone hardware I've seen to date. Absolutely stunning. It seems far superior to most Nokia handsets. If only it could run Ovi Maps and other Nokia...

Glad for it

Well, I'm one American T-Mobile customer who has decided to pass on the Nexus One but will definitely buy the Nuron on the 17th. There are a number of reasons, but suffice it to say that although...

I wish this were an announcement for Google Navigation for Symbian! Does anyone know if this is in the works?

I love the design...saw a few comparison photos on another website, and it makes the N97 mini and Satio look stodgy and "old-fashioned." But with Noia offering Ovi Maps for free now, will it work on...

Thanks for a great and honest review, Ewan. I'm one of the few loyal Nokia and S60 fans (and former Psion fanatic) in the US. I'm still using my trusty Nokia 6120c, but have been looking for a...

How to change speed dial sites?

I am totally impressed by the new Opera Mini's excellent. However, has anyone figured out how to change the sites on the "speed dial?" I haven't.

Nokia Music Store USA?

Good grief, when will they ever launch the Music Store in the US?

T9 on E55?

xxnoelziexx, does the E55 have T9 for the numeric keys? If so, that would still be a one-handed option, right?

Both the E55 and E52 are very appealing to me. Regarding the panoramic mode...ironically, my little 6120 Classic has this feature, and this phone came out two years ago!

"Ovi" is an enigmatic "word"

My two cents worth as an American: the name "Ovi" is completely meaningless and enigmatic. I love Nokia products and prefer them to the phones typically foisted upon the public by US carriers, but...

Good news

Thanks very much for this info, Tzer2! I love using Nokia's internet radio, and have often wondered how to add stations I've discovered through other avenues. This is helpful!

Logo? Egads.

Yikes. The new logo looks like it was designed by a 4-year old. I think it looks simply awful...childish, uninspiring, amateurish. And I agree...the name Symbian has almost no recognition or...

Maps in Landscape Mode?

Can Maps be viewed in landscape mode on the 5800? That would be excellent.

Well, this is great news. Nokia Audiobooks is one of my favorite apps for my Nokia 6120c...I've created several audiobooks, but there were always a few quirks in the process. Good job, Nokia Beta...

amAze gps is indeed amAzing

Following up on Dbournique's comment, I too often use amAze GPS on my Nokia 6120c (with Nokia's BT GPS device) here in the US. I also have Maps 2.0 and Google maps, and have found each has its own...

Location of ports bad a problem?

Man, I'm really impressed with the 5800, in every regard except one: the location of the ports at the top. Why did Nokia do this (also with the N85)? Is there some rationale I'm not figuring out? ...

Nice option for US Nokia owners

Nice article, especially the point about obscurity versus piracy. I use a Nokia 6120c here in the US, and have been hoping Nokia will open its Music Store here, but alas, they haven't yet. But I...

Google map colors

I love Google Maps on my Nokia 6120c, but of all the map/nav programs I have on my phone (Google Maps, Nokia Maps, Yahoo Go, and AmazeGPS), Google Maps has the worst colors/contrast of them all. In...

6120 device image in WMP 11?

For some reason, my 6120 classic device image is not showing up in windows Media Player 11 during sync mode; instead, there is a generic cartoonish-looking cell phone. Does anyone know how to fix...

Mic location on 6120?

Does anyone know where the location of the microphone is on the 6120 Classic? There's a very small hole on the bottom, just next to the power port, which I'm guessing is it, but am not sure.

3d view any better?

Is the 3D view improved over the original Nokia Maps? Whenever I go to 3D in v 3.1, north is up only, instead of the map moving to keep the heading up.
