Lightbulb E61 Firmware Update, Product code change, Language Effect?

I've seen some great posts about how to update firmware and which product codes for different languages.

I am just about to purchase an E61 but I would like to find out if anyone has changed the code to enable non European languages such as Chinese/Japanese/Korean?
What I would like to know is:

1) When changing the code and then flashing new Firmware, does the firmware have to be region specific (European language = European firmware)?

2) Does this change the menu language too?

Has anyone tried this? Reading other posts, it seems the keyboard will most probably be out of sync but this is not too much of an issue.
