nokia locked on vodafone but i live in ireland and using vodafone ireland

hi,
jus bought the nokia n95 which is locekd to Vodafone UK of ebay and want to know if i can get it unlocked in ireland so i can use my Vodafone Ireland sim init or do i have to take it to uk and get it unlcocked there...
any help apprecited

You cannot do it for free, trust me. Vodafone will do it for 20. Course, if you wait till the end of your contract (12 or 18 months).

Do *not* be tempted to try the various claims on ebay.

Just ring vodafone.

but the thing is that i dont live in the UK and i bought the fone of ebay not on a contract from vodafone...

I think they do it anyway. Just ring them up and ask, they need the IMEI code, and ask them to send it to whatever your address is, make sure they dont send it to the account holders. As far as I know, they dont tie IMEI codes to the customer.

If they say no, its no biggie, your not breaking the law or doing anything bad by having that phone.

You dont have to tell them its a N95, all you need do is ring them and say you want your phone unlocking and give them the code.

Worst that can happen is they say no.

If you go to www.fonefunshop.co.uk they'll unlock it for you for 40 - costly but obviously very worth it.

Thats how i did mine.
