It is possible to connect the 9210 over GPRS with Extended Internet, IR and a GPRS enabled phone. Would it be
possible to build a cable to achieve this instead of IR? It is impossible to connect over IR when on the move like in the train. Would connecting the data cables of both phones with a null modem work??

Regards,
Yogesh.

Why don't we all just use the HSCD or whatever it is (I've forgotten it, damn), as it's built into the phone and allows a fast connection, 28,800 is fast enough for me.

Unfortunately the network operator does not support HSCSD! Hence the convoluted workaround if it is possible!!

Yogesh.

Ah, I see your problem. I would assume it shouldn't be that hard to convert 2 serial cables to form the link, just making the connection over that instead of IR would be the problem.

I'm actually impressed with HSCSD. I didn't think it would be very good..... but it isn't at all bad!

I think Im right in saying that with extended internet you can use a GRPS phone to connect while linking with IR.

i.e. no cables.

Yes, it is possible to connect over IR. But my problem is that while travelling to work and back, it is impossible to use IR. Hence am looking at a cable setup. Any clues Rafe?

hmm, not really I'm afraid. It might be that a cable could be used, but I'm guessing a null modem adaptor would be required. If the phone has a serial cable (maybe for data connection to the desktop), then using this in conjunction with the Nokia cable and a null modem adaptor should work. (I sometimes use -to use this with my Psion).

Try taping the phones together while travelling. Jees I'm short on ideas today.

Our good friend the 9210 does not even support Bluetooth. But for GPRS or Bluetooth, it's a GREAT product, & is ideal for my use...I think I'm going to try Rafe's suggestion of 2 serial cables hooked with a null modem...
