Standard VoIP on N95 8GB

I have a Vodafone N95 8GB, 15.0.015. As it's Vodafone, the internet telephony section has disappeared. Is there software I can download so I can connect to my brother's telephone system? He has a standard Asterisk set up with his own call management system. I've tried Fring, Truphone and Talkonaut, but they all seem to be tied to their own system and Truphone needs the non-Vodafone version.

Nothing I'm aware of, I've been very interested in Fixed Mobile Convergence and couldn't achieve this with the stock Vodafone software. You need the full SIP/VoIP software that comes with a debranded firmware. (I run my own Astericks software with an SPA3102 and debranded software).

Cheers

just change the product code and flash the phone with the unbranded firmware. changing the code only takes a few seconds, and the unbranded firmware surely is much better than the carrier firmware. additionally the 8GB has the newest firmware with more features i believe. auto rotate, etc. and for you, the built in VOIP function comes with unbranded firmware.

I've read about the unbranded firmware a couple of times, I don't know anything about it. How do I get it and what are the downsides?

there are absolutely no downsides to debranding your phone, and literally every nokia phone should be debranded. the carrier firmware is usually limited and crippled and bloated. the generic nokia firmware is always better. so debrand it!!
