GPS = Global Positioning System (satellite navigation)

GPRS = General Packet Radio Service (mobile/cellular network packet data connection system)

Neither of them have anything to do with WLAN/Wi-Fi (Wireless Local Area Network)

What is is that you really want to do/get?

You don't need to "connect" to GPS, that is automatic. What you are talking about is the application asking for permission to download data over a data connection, such as GPRS or wifi (wireless lan). If you don't have a wifi network at your home, which I doubt or you would know about it, your only option is GPRS, which could be very expensive if you don't have a data bundle as part of your contract, or a wirless "hotspot" which you would need on the spot assistance with.
