i don't think i know what you mean. when sliding up to enter text via the keyboard, the phone switches to portrait mode because you re holding the device vertically to type. the switching of display modes takes about 1 sec based on what i ve seen. after you finish entering text, just slide it back up and you re in landscape again, voila! while i agree that landscape will be favourable while browsing, when entering text i just dont see the problem with portrait when switching is almost instantly.

Answer to JezzzJ's earlier question: NOkia's product page says it is A-GPS. http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/N95

Now my question: Does it support AVRCP to complement the A2DP?

Thanks. I suspected it would but I would rather someone who actually had the phone answered that question.

Nokia N95!!

According to the specs, the Nokia N95 has no optical zoom. What is optical zoom?? From my understanding without optical zoom , you are unable to zoom in on pictures after you have snapped them.Is this correct and true??

How is the sound quality of this phone and may I have a picture comparison of the N95 with a Nokia 6680?

Optical zoom does exactly what it says on the tin; zooms in using optical methods. That is to say, by moving lenses to change the way light reaches the photographic recording surface (film or, in the case of digital cameras, CCD) it makes a small area of the subject fill the entire area of the picture. Digital zoom, by contrast, makes the picture seem bigger by interpolating between the CCD's cells, making, in effect, a best guess. Hence optical zoom is much better at preserving clarit and detail.

No; optical zoom happens before the picure is captures. Once it is saved you can play with it as you will with software, and I assume the N95 will allow you to change the displayed size of captured images; if it doesn't, and I can't imagine why it wouldn't, it's a software limitation and nothing to do with optical zoom.

1 - Does the N95 display email messages on the Active Display Screen(like the E Series)?

2 - Does the N95 have the WLAN Scanning on Active Display Screen(like the N80IE)?

3 - When you are you WLAN does it repeatedly ask you to connect when using different apps, for example, you are browsing on the web, you switch to the email app to check your emails, does it just check the emails or does it (like the N80) fail to realise you are already connected and ask you to connect again? (also does this when using web feeds on the N80), not a huge problem but still annoying.

4 - In your opinion how does the screen look when compared to the the 352 x 416 of the N80, E70 etc

Quick question re:N95

I have an N73 and often when I try to zoom on an image in the Image browser it comes up with a message stating that memory is full and I have to close an application...of course there are none open other than image browser...does this happen on the N95?

Yeah.... great manual (6680) and CD (N70). Nothing to say about the comments of the guy who was talking, it looked like it was his first Symbian... I mean how stupid you can be to have a N93 and not to manage another Symbian without user manual? Damn it, even my N70 has inbuilt help

I never read any manual of the phones or pda's I got, I just play with it and lurn it that way.
You don't read a manual before using windows though so why here with symbian...

And now regarding the topic:

Browser

I was wondering about the browser, I read that the servicebrowser and webbrowser is now 2in1 so I was wondering if you can finally save pictures etc. Because that was only possible in the servicebrowser.
I also like to know if they got a better find function. Like CTRL+F in Internet Explorer where you just type something and it searches the page.
And what about browsing, is it possible to open more windows? at the same time? Because now it doesn't to that unless you press a link on the site that is scripted with "target=_blank"

USB related

I read you cannot charge the phone via usb, do you think that will be possible with a firmware upgrade, a BlackBerry, PDA, MP3-players and other devices can be charged using usb though.
Can you use the mini USB port also for other applications or tools?

I wonder if it supports FAT32 (so we know if we can use them 4GB cards)
Could you format your memorycard to FAT32 and try if it works?
