Does anyone know if this update fixes the following issue that appeared in v31?

When encryption is turned on, apps like Maps, Wellness Diary and Qt apps in general stop working.

Why did they make the clock smaller, it was perfect... I think I'll wait for the new bugs before updating.

The clock is not smaller, the font under it is.

useless

nokia chat starts not working, email and mfe still has same version numbers, optical trackpad still reset sensivity to normal after phone restart, translation for some countries are still bad, gps folder has gone from appplications folder, world traveler, ovi store and maps want to update themselves at first run... actually i saw nothing worth for update except smaller clock

Looking at my updated phone (OTA):

* the clock font is too small now
* the bug where you couldn't use 7 and 8 as menu shortcuts was fixed
* the encryption bug seems fixed: with phone encryption on I can start Ovi maps, wellness diary + other qt apps
* free memory seems to be the same ~41MB
* I didn't see any other bugs
* Chat client looks the same... and so does the browser
* I had already updated QuickOffice so no changes.
* Can't find office communicator
* New ovi store doesn't have an exit softkey, you must use the Options menu.
* Never used smartconnect as e72 supports destinations.

Yeah the key shortcut problem for the keys 7 and 8 has been fixed.... but
unfortunately key shortcuts only work for the matrix in unscrolled
conditions.

The look of the browser changed when pressing the back button -
open sites fit better to screen size now.

I am using smartconnect for the mail client...

Not always. Got mine direct from Nokia UK which makes it a UK Country Variant and pretty much all the versions Nokia have been developing for the E72 after 031.023 have been targeting the generic regional product codes only. 051.018 when I looked hasn't got any codes for CVs or operator specific codes.

031.023 took a very long time (maybe 6 months) to get most of the CVs supported and they're still being updated I think.

I don't expect 051.018 this side of Christmas for UK CV. I hope to be proven wrong.

Anyway, any comments on the GPS reliability? Anything fixed or is it worse like 031.023 was? Particular in regard to acquiring a fix.

Does the email client (POP/IMAP, not MfE) now handle destinations on this new version ? that would get rid of havint to use Smartconnect which was bugged on the last version anyway.

Not able to update?

My Device does not identify the update. Have tried *#0000#, Check for update and also Nokia Software updater
Details : Custom Version 031.023.246.02
Language Set : 41.01

Is someone having the same problem?

Nokia E72 battery empty after 6 hours after firmware update

Before updating my Nokia E72 this afternoon I fully reloaded the battery.

After the SW update (I think towards version v51) it is continiously very warm. Now the battery is empty! I already restarted the phone twice.

What is wrong? Is this a known problem?

Best regards, Maarten Klerk, Netherlands

Would like to know also, for the above and also Nokia Messaging. Only MfE actually supports destinations on the E72! Crazy when destinations is part of the phone design and a key advertised feature and yet was not implemented in all apps (whilst 5th edition got an update that did support it!). Worse was to then bundle Smartconnect to keep people happy and go and release a buggy version that doesn't work!

Check your active connections. Maybe something is always active, like WLAN, 3G, GPRS, Bluetooth. These all drain the battery and raise the temp of the phone. If they are always active, check application settings to see if something has been set to always be on (e.g. Email client).

Ovi Maps Problem

The latest E72 firmware is already embedded with Maps version 3.03. If you update Maps (after the Ovi Suite tells you a Maps update is available), you will have a double install and Maps will stop working (it will even shut down your phone). To solve this, go to Control Panel>Apps Manager>Installed Apps and uninstall Nokia Maps.

This will solve your Ovi Maps problem (but you'll have version 3.03 instead of the newest 3.4).

Hope this helps you.

Hooray! the UK CV E72 now has v51!
Delay of a couple of weeks is annoying but not the end of the world
