Question Can't open SMS from memory card

Hi, I have a following problem:

The phone doesn't want to open SMS messages from memory card (Adata), the phone is
220.34.37
20-10-2008
RM-244
Nokia E51 (209.06)

it doesn't even blink the screen, but when I first had this problem some months ago it did sometimes tried to open and blinked the screen, but now I can just click and nothing happens
but when I use USB cable and connect phone to PC and use Nokia Communication Centre then I can read the message without any problem on my PC

It first started months ago, when I received message from a friend and I was unable to open it and some of the older messages to which I already read. So I deleted those messages and everything went good again. The same happened sometimes but now I don't have any messages in my phone, and the 1. one I receive I'm unable to open :(
But when I switch to phone memory it works, but there is no way how to copy messages from memory card to phone and vice versa.

Also sometimes some of the applications stopped working like won't start at all, also maps broken that they started loading and around 30% they closed without any error message. I had to update them to ver. 3 to have maps again.

The memory card is A-Data Micro Secure Digital (SDHC) 8GB (Class 6), I checked it in computer with scandisk no errors, it works fine also in my Camera without any problems.

Also I have some emails still on the memory card.

---

So what can I do to solve this problem and open SMS from memory card.
And how to prevent this problem.
Or should I return the phone?
Don't hesitate you can be very IT specific.

Thanks

Smile Suggestions

It's not quite clear , what the problem is :
1) Memory ( C: and RAM ) . See this tread for Tips about saving Memory :
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum...ad.php?t=84082

2) Corrupted File in the Software . Make a backup of your personal data first , and do a Hard Reset or VDG . See my post here :
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum...ad.php?t=81021
Default Nokia security code : 12345 , needed at reboot .

3) Hardware (Device , MemoryCard) . Most probably not . When 1) and 2) are not successfull . See NokiaService Point

The problem is that when I select to use memory card as a storage for SMS messages, I can't open any SMS.

The rest just explains what I can do or not with the SMS messages, when phone memory is selected as SMS storage it works but there are no messages so this problem might occur later.

Smile Clear

It is clear what the problem is , seen from a users point of view .
My approach is more a technical view , of trying to solve a technical issue that's causing the users annoyance .
When you find this to complicated , visit a technical center . They probably follow the same steps , that I mentioned before , to solve the technical side of the problem .

no it's not at all complicated, but from my point of view it's a workaround but sadly probably the only way, but I could get back to the same problem again after a another half of a year
so there is no way how to look inside the OS and see what it is doing or not and what is wrong? ie error log, ...
it's sad that after half of a year the phone is kind of unusable, SMS problems, application problems

yeah in service center they will just reset the device or install newer firmware, anybody can do that

thanks, I will try to reset it after back up

Smile Good Luck

Lately on the N97 subforum , you can find some users , who have to do a hard reset almost everyday . Just to keep their device running . They are desperately waiting for a new firmware update .
Having to do a Reset after half a year is not that bad for a intensive user . BTW did you check for a new firmware update ? Normally it irons out bugs .
Many times a "soft reset" can do a miracle allready .
But I know , it is a workaround . Nothing much to do about it , though .....

If it would do it somethink that would need hard reset everyday, now when I'm not home but in Finland, I would found some Nokia ... and then go to jail for that.

But when I'm back home, I would just return it 3 times and then get money back. Maybe I will do it, and keep it returning if it does some error, it's a shame there is no other OS for those phones (faster and reliable one).
