Can somebody please help. Just spent 3 - 4 hours trying to unbrand my Nokia N97 without any success. Trawled a lot of other forums and got nowhere.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much but I'm trying to remove any traces of Vodafone. When the phone is switched on, the vodafone logo appears after the Nokia one. Should unbranding remove this.

I bought the phone a few days ago and upgraded the software to version 12.0.026. The original product code was 0585262. Tried following this guide here to use NSS. http://nokia.nigelcoldwell.co.uk/firmware.htm
Initially when I tried to scan for phone info I got an error. Read somewhere else that if I connected to PC Suite it would get rid of the error and find the information which it did. I changed the code to 0570817. The phone hasn't bricked or appeared to change at all. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

You should really have changed the product code first before upgrading the software to v12.0.026

You will not notice any difference until you connect your phone to NSU and download the generic firmware v12.0.24.

This may, or may not, be possible now as you have a higher firmware number than that currently available for your new code but it's worth a try, even if it's just a reinstall.

I bought the phone unlocked but didn't realise it was branded. After I bought it, just went straight to the Nokia site to download the latest firmware. It was only later when reading the forums to pick up tips that I realised it may be possible to unbrand it.

When I connect to NSU i get a message saying something like I have the latest software and no update available. How do I uninstall v12.0.026 or is there another code that I could use?

You will have to wait until v2 firmware is released and then you will be able to update with the generic (unbranded) firmware.

Technically it is possible to go backwards in firmware updates, if you know what you're doing, but hardly worth it as v2 is due out this month, allegedly.
