Question A date for the A925 firmware release

Has anyone got a date for the a925 firmware upgrade release for the a920? I have heard lots of rumours but nothing definate. I heard end of November then begining of December because of the new law so that bluetooth could be enabled.

Does anyone know?

Nov 28th update

November 28th as far as i know, this give Motorola/'3' a couple of days before the driving handsfree etc ban comes in but i doubt they'll make a big announcement before that due to the amount of people likely to take up the update..

Thanks for that...but Motorola/3 don't give you much time...I suppose everyone will be rushing on the Friday to get their phones updated because I presume that the weekend will be hectic.

Have you any idea how this upgrade will be done? Will it have to be sent to a repair centre or will the software be made available?

Angry Carephonewarehouse say no upgrade

I have contacted a carephone warehouse service center and according to them there will not be a software upgrade by Motorola on the 28th November. This is really annoying if it is true!!!

Anyone heard the same thing???

The truth is that there isnt going to be a update. Its comes from the CEO of 3UK.

Read this article:
http://www.aussie3g.com/modules.php?...rder=0&thold=0

3AUS will have a update as they had a piece of paper saying that the update will come soon. So 3AUS dont have a choice.

THERE IS AN UPGRADE!!!

Both the call centre and 3 in Glasgow had confimed an upgrade and said to take it either to the nearest store to be sent away to be flashed, or 3 will couriers you a replacement.

Mines arriving on Monday... and yes, it is the A925 firmware!!

Thumbs up

Thanks...I have information about upgrading the a920 so that it enables the bluetooth functionality but the infrared won't work (3 are going to do this for me) but I thought the a925 upgrade included infrared this one doesn't???

Ive read that this is likely to be a future upgrade, to enable IR, and a charge will be incurred....

The current A925 firmware is bluetooth enabled only...

Thanks...I heard that we have to pay for infrared but don't you think this is unfair? I have a hard copy of the 3 website which states that the a920 would be bluetooth and infrared capable...surely they can be done under trade descriptions act???

What do you think??

Yeah I remember seeing the same details on the three website when the phone first come out... a couple of days later I went back to try t download that info, and guess what... it had DISAPPEARED!!!

They were obviously aware that customers fealt they were being misled....

I got my new phone today... it does indeed now have the A925 firmware, and bluetooth only... I cant see any other modifications, nor do I yet know if it will accept unsigned applications.

Like most A920 owners, I am hoping that the "walled garden" we now feel trapped in will slowly come down... but like most "walls" in history, they may take a while lol!!!

I only hope they hurry up with allowing some sort of internet access, the three services are pityful. Even WAP on my nokia 7650 was better, at least you had some sort of freedom!!!

We all live in hope!!!
