Ovi Maps receives minor update

Nokia Beta Labs have updated the 3.04 beta for Ovi Maps. The page for Ovi Maps is reporting that a minor update has been made to its 3.04 beta version, as of April 16th 2010. There is no information on what has been updated, and indeed the version number has not incremented. The only obvious change is the filename. More below if you're interested!

Read on in the full article.

You can ignore the "S60 5.0" and "S60 3.2" bit, that just refers to S60 5th Edition and S60 3rd Edition FP2 devices. The site hosts two versions, and both were just updated.

In fact, the Download page has this:

[s]Home location: Home location settings are not preserved when upgrading from SR3 (3.03) to SR4 (3.04)[/s] - Now fixed!

That might be the whole changelog, there. Downloading it for my N79 for a laugh anyway, maybe it's quietly added compatibility like with the N86.

I wonder if with the upgrade it'll work in Walk mode. It takes 5 minutes or more to connect with GPS satellites when I'm driving, but never connects when I'm walking.

6110 Navigator never had Nokia Maps, it used Route 66, which was arguably better than Nokia Maps at the time

Thats wierd. Mine works very well, with the exception of issues when I try to connect within a building. What handset are you using? Something could be wrong there.

@ Unregistered, this means that the 6110 Navigator is a very old phone (comparatively). If Nokia is not offering the free navigation and updates to many of the FP1 devices, why do you expect an upgrade to the 6110 Navigator. If you do want to buy a new phone, buy one of the current Nokia GPS phones.

I'm using an E71 and have had this problem since I "upgraded" from the maps program that came with the phone to the Ovi Maps version, even when I paid my 10 euros for navigation. Google Maps finds and connects to the satellites much faster.
