i get where you guys are coming from, i did that when i had an iphone too, but still the n97 homescreen is a plus not just for all the notifications, but plugins from a lot of apps. it's a great feature to have, out of the box.

Good post - I came to similar conclusions

Thanks for an interesting article.

I must admit, I came to similar conclusions when trying out an N97 mini to replace my iPhone. Bottomline? It just doesn't match up overall. For those who are interested my full post is here:

Define "productive"

Don't S60 users like being productive?
Yes, I do. That's why I use a pen and paper (a small pocket notebook or sticky notes) for writing and reviewing my daily tasks.

I haven't bothered with a digital device for Tasks since I stopped using my Psion. Even on a Palm pen and paper was more efficient.

Less time entering notes means more time for real productivity.

I love all about symbian

I stopped using Nokia devices as soon as I could get out of my N95 contract, but I just love coming back to this website, its sooooo geeky.

Symbian is absolute rubbish in the post iPhone era, but you guys havent woken up to the fact that its doomed yet. I even prefer WM 6.1, even before someone like HTC makes it fun.

Lets face is, Symbian is destined for low end devices in the future, and if Nokia dont sort things out they are heading south.

I would say Nokia are dooooooooooomed, but maybe not. Everyone had written off Motorola yet they are suddenly producing some very tasty Android handsets.....

.....I just hope Nokia learns quickly before 'emerging markets' become the only place where they're influential.

apple, iphone, mini, n97, nokia
