Battery Life on V20?

Updated from v12 to v20 yesterday, and noticed in the daytime that the battery had seemed to run down very quickly, so came home in the afternoon and had the phone on full charge.

Went out again in the evening, around 8.30pm, with a fully charged battery, and by the time I got back in , around 11.30, the battery was down to its last bar.

Didn't do anything too heavy duty whilst I was out, a bit of light surfing and downloaded fring, but other than that, it shouldn't run down so quickly ?

Any idea's / solutions / similar problems?

Try running it right down (so it wont switch on) and then giving it a good 12 hours. Mine did this a couple of weeks ago. Seems i had to "Reset the memory on the battery" or whatever the term was. I now use it regularly in day and seems to last for 2 days. (Calls, Web & Music)

See how it goes.

I had this exact same problem for 24 hours after upgrading to V20, the battery did not last even half a day on standby and got quite warm!!

I allowed it to completely die then as mentioned above gave it a full charge and touch wood it has been back to normal since

Yes, it *seems* to be behaving itself now, did let it die right down - by accident - and just left it charging overnight. Been steady on full number of bars for the last couple of hours now, although I haven't actually done anything with it!

Thanks for the info...

I ran Nokia Energy Profiler app earlier, and noticed that the N97 uses a lot of power for the screen backlight...

1.8W (watts) when the screen baclight is on and data is actually being transferred over 3G (checking multiple email accounts with Profimail)
0.88W (watts) of power with the Screen backlight on and no active data connections
0.1W when the screen is on standby and no active data connections.

I assume you always press the lock-switch when you are not using the handset, to put the screen into standby?

I have the auto lock thing come on, so it activates after a few seconds of non use, but it's been a lot better today, although I've hardly used the phone at all, it's still on full battery been in standby mode all day, so looks like the running down and overnight charge seems to have done the trick.

cheers.
