hey there !

I think there are a few here who have the AOL problem with bad password, I only use it for MSN and have had no problems

As far as your web browsing speed .. no it will not be as fast as your PC, due to 2 main factors (as far as I can figure anyway)

1) The 9500 only has a 802.11b connection, which means 11Mbit. Once you take th overhead off for transmision control it only leaves about 7Mbit for data flow, however this is quicker than GRPS

2) The speed of the CPU in the 9500. As its a 150MHz cpu and the Opera web browser is having to render the html pages and re-scale them for the smaller screen it takes the 9500 a little longer to actually process them. You can prove this. If you have a look @ AAS on your 9500 you will see it takes a while for it to fully load the php pages. If you then browse to a very simple site, I have a small web server with just a file listing page, then this loads very quickly as there is nothing to process !

Remember, be patient

thanks for the update. I realise the processor is having to work very hard (wonder if there any little taskman type apps so you can see memory and processor usage ?) However I was hoping the web pages would load a little faster than they do Yes I am very impatient It really is one of my bad traits!! I was really hoping to see a big speed increase through the 11mb connection.

Cool

Turning "Fit to screen" off might speed things up for you (quite site-depenant of course), as it doens't have to rescale the pages that intensively.

Try also setting a huge amount for caching (i have 10Mb). I'm trying to understand how to set cache on MMC instead on communicator.

I can't find that setting anywhere either. Can you get different browser for the Nokia? A scaled down firefox would be nice

There are no other browsers available for the 9500 at the moment

You can change the cache size by going to Menu -> Extra -> Settings -> Advanced
However, AFAIK you can't set it to use the MMC for the cache though

Yeah thanks Delta. I found that one, i was meaning the cache to MMC card setting. But thanks for clearing that one up about now being able to change to mmc card.
Shame about no other browsers :-(

Well you can set the cache to MMC by adding the line Cache Disk=D to opera.ini, however it seems slower than to C drive.
I have even tried to set it the virtual E drive which increased things just a little, however the cache is gone each time you reboot. On the other hand you're allowed to browse off line as Opera only tries to connect automatically with C drive caching.
i have also noticed that increasing the cache above 3000k slows things a lot with opera, do you have the same experiences ??
