Ovi Maps hits the Ovi Store - Official and Available

Everyone has been wondering why Ovi Maps hasn't been offered, for convenience, through the Ovi Store client - and, with the release of the new all-free, official v3.3, that's exactly what Nokia has done, indicating a high degree of confidence on its part. Great to see it heading up the store, anyway, and now merely a download away. And a side note for those for whom this doesn't appear - many other S60 3rd Ed FP2 phones will work fine with Maps 3.3 - just grab the closest version via your desktop and side-load it.

Read on in the full article.

Question Where's the proof?

There's no Ovi Maps in the Ovi Store. Post a link or at least a screenshot if you have.

I've read reports that it works on the N86, but now N79, N96 and N78 (which I have), it won't install.

It works on the N86 but the compass does not. Even if I try to enable it by pressing button 5 during navigation, it still does not turn it on. Other than that, everything else works fine.

I have been able to find 2 versions of the new Ovi Maps. 3.2 and 5.0

3.2 fails to install on my 6220c with the error "Unable to install. No access".

5.0 (E72) installs fine, but will not start.

So far side-loading has not worked for me.

Question Is FP1 ever gonna get the love?

What about us N95/N82/E71 users?
The site still shows only FP2/5th edn. devices in the drop down.
'For other devices, click here' translates to 'stick with the old version which still asks for a license'.

I was unable to "side load" version 3.3 from my desktop to my e71. If you have actually done it successfully please post how you managed it. Thanks.

Typical Nokia...

Announce free for all when it doesn't mean that at all! they should of a big * next to it and mention only for "new customers only".

There are probably 100+ million FP1 devices sold yet they won't support it.

↲it works in "my location" only, as described in the documentation!
