Start up screen

I've got an annoying prompt to select an access point that pops up when I switch the e61 on now. It appears even before the Nokia splash screen appears.....didn't do this with the old firmware....can it be deactivated?

Similar e61 startup problem since firmware update

i have something similar since upgrading to the new firmware. When I switch on my E61 it tries to install some app for about 30 seconds and then gives up with an error message. Weird, but I can live with it; try not to switch the phone off at all.

racameron - Did you try and install Truphone? If the install wizard doesn't complete the first time, it tries to continue on restart?

pieterjh - After the firmware upgrade, I got these messages for a while. On restart, it seems to look for .sis files that haven't been installed. I eventually cleared it by re-installing all the apps I had before (but I guess you could go to App Manager and delete any uninstalled .sis files, assuming you recognise the names?)

Have you tried booting it without the memory card. I seem to remember reading a thread about something similar, and it was fixed by formatting the card.

racameron,

I also get an occasional request to choose an access point as soon as the phone switches on, just as you describe it. I believe it is related to the fact that I was connected to my VOIP provider via WiFi on my home network when I switched the phone off. It has also happened outside my home WiFi network and I am presuming I had also been connected to someone and looking on a web site when I turned the phone off. I suspect that when you power up again, the phone is looking for an access point to carry on the service that you interrupted.

This is just my suspicion at this point in time...it is so random that I have not managed to pin down the exact cause. If you do work it out, please let me know.

I think the error was caused by the firmware upgrade resetting the "software installation" settting (under app manager) to "signed only". That's probably why your Truephone app couldn't fullly install?

Had the same problem, but i'd already reformatted the memory card before i realized. :(
